well gee at finally atlease someting about voip. i wonder if third party company will be providing headsets for the psp.
They're already out. For VoIP Sony might need a firmware patch to make the headset usable on the internet browser.
Headsets have been out since Socom FTB I think.
I personally think the 2 are unrelated, skype and jajah that is. if the key in the regestry was for skype, then it would be for skype surely, rather than this seemingle unknown company.
regardless it's a productive step forward. would be interesting to use on the go, via someones unprotected wireless signal :P
: ) : ) SMILY FACE : ) : )
this isn't free... it still costs to make a call
yes it is retard, voip connections go directly to the other device/computer so it dosent need a server that we have to use.
Way to go Jahjah you just tapped into a market with 25 million strong.
I for one, will be picking up a headset this week. The prices seem about right and I like the idea behind the free usage between members.
i tried it but all it does is connect to ur home phone
How does this use the mic in the web browser? Wait... does this even use the mic in the web browser?
If you made a phone call with this, could you please post you experience with this :) .
I tried it out and created two accounts because it's free that way and tried to make a call, I had some issues and didn't really get a real phone call out of it. I couldn't hear my voice on the phone so I don't know if the mic on the PSP was incorrectly set up?
I have the SONY headset and figured it should work. perhaps it will take more attempts before I get it worked out but for now, It doesn't seem to fully work. I mean I can call but can't communicate. could be that the servers are very busy due to every PSP owner hitting up the site all at once.
Actually, it's not like Skype - no equipment is needed, just a landline or mobile phone. You type in your number and the person you want to call and JAJAH calls you back to initiate the call.
Then how are you supposed to chat with the person? I have a PSP mic that i use for Syphon Filter and the article mentions using a PSP mic.
This isn't really VoIP. It just initiates a phone call between to phones. You can't use the psp itself to talk. See this video
http://www.jajah.com/#
"It goes without saying that you'll need a headset to be able to make use of Jajah's VoIP.", says the QJ article.
QJ was wrong, the browser and a webpage can never connect to the headset atleast not now.
Marty had it right "You type in your number and the person you want to call and JAJAH calls you back to initiate the call."
It still doesn't work because when It called me back, it stated that the user was busy and press 1 to redial in 5 min. I pressed 1 and hung up. It called me back in 5 min. but the same BS, no communication at all just an automated voice telling me it will re dial the call but never goes through. This isn't VoIP, I'm begining to think it's a late April Fools joke gone horriblly wrong.
bleh, im still w8 for hbw SIP client 4da psp.
All this does it make a call, you cant actually speak to anyone. it just dials the number.
This is not a VoIP service. Show me where the word VoIP on there website.
I don't pay for mintues on my cell anyways. I can see how it may help others save a pretty penny.
Seacrest Out! ;)
if you lost your cell phone you can use your psp to find your phone . .
U
Exactly! $h!tty nonsence web based app that really
does jack $h!t for the PSP. but oh yeah, like pspfreak101 said "can be useed to find your lost cell phone" thats about as usefull as this BULL $H!T goes.
So, this is indeed VOIP but only from phone 2 phone with VOIP in the middle.
This has nothing to do with the mic on the psp.
You just use the PSP browser to initiate the call between 2 conventional telephones.
This is about 5% as cool as skype.
In other words, bunk.
Yep its no good unless ur doing everything from teh PSP but this way you are jus using your real phone anyways.
This really is turkey $h!t you know. You can visit this page
from a computer to place a VoIP call from your "phone" to
another phone" but not from the PSP.
The only reason they marketed it for the PSP is because
the PSP has a web browser and and can visit the site to
do the same thing as with your computer. This is Horse
$h!t!, "No Sir, I didn't like it".
This is truely lame on Jajah's part to say it's for the PSP
when it really don't work as VoIP communication from the PSP.
The only way they get off saying it's for the PSP is because
the PSP can visit it's site.
Other than that, it's junk, useless, @ss Hats for gapping
clowns!
This whole attempt on their part to attracked PSP fan
crowds because they know we want VoIP only to be
let down by false hopes is truely BUNK $h!T and I'll thinik
twice before ever believing a word in one of TIM Y.'s posts
ever again.
You just pissed alot of people off TIM Y. good going.
Test it before you post it, @zz Munch!
Im using Fring beta as voip on my nokia e61 to talk with people on skype and msn and works really well
hopefully someone will manage to support Fring on the PSP.
theres not point because you need o be at home to connect to the internet an even then you could just use ur pc. JUST WAIT TILL SKYPE
This is really f*cking retarded, there was already homebrew like this made
who cares/ what this is only for japan like the chotto or the gps? stupid sony!
ummm... what about microphone?
authors need to be moderated. too much rubbish being posted on here.
hell, gmail just launched gmail for PSP.
every other website in the world with compatible pages just launched their new PSP service.
stop reporting rubbish. especially more expensive rubbish.
voipstunt provide a similar service, along with a full SIP+STUN service, for a fraction of the cost (5cent/hour rather than 3cent/min).
seriously, moderate the article authors. enough of this crap.
only certain people can post news items.
Well, the concept is good, but this jahjah is just rubbish. the video is junk, like i said b4, where the microphone and stuff!?! from what i can see its just like ebuddy (messenger)
A homebrew VoiP app (like a port of skype or something) would be good, but that sounds hard (getting a mic and all going).
Girl or a boy?
I can't tell
a homebrew VoiP app would be realy good
everyone wants vo ip
when this popped up everyone was excited but got their hopes down when they relized what it really was
so someone please create a hombrew voip app
i know that online is te next step for hombrew its been done in one app
getting the mic to work would be hard
theres a voice recognizer app out there so maybe you could use something from that to help get the mic part started
the real challange is gettng the mike to workbut i know its possible
The kid in the video sounds like a *****ing *****.
