Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G Keeps PSP Up In Japanese Hardware Sales - Image 1

Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G may have been ousted by Mario Kart Wii in Japan, but the game is still going strong. Thanks to this, PSP sales still continue to outperform all the other platforms for the fifth week running.

While the Sony handheld may not be performing as well as it did when Monster Hunter first debuted, it doesn't look like it's going to lose its momentum any time soon. Here are hardware sales numbers in Japan for the week ending on April 20:
  • PSP: 85,421
  • DS Lite: 44,551
  • Wii: 44,241
  • PS3: 7,438
  • PS2: 6,545
  • Xbox 360: 1,076

» It's all because of the game Monster Hunter Portable 2G

Sooner or later, the PSP sales will taper off, however, I hope it maintains its lead against the DS. I feel that the DS is a great handheld system, but I just prefer the PSP since it allows the developers more freedom when it comes to presenting good graphics, graphics that are close to the PS2. DS graphics are just very crappy when compared to last gen consoles, I mean, they are as good as N64, slightly better perhaps. All it's got going for it is intuitive gameplay which makes use of the stylus. But the range of games that can take advantage of the full capabilities of the DS is not very large. Whereas the PSP, any game work on it.

 » just a quick question...

Just curious, does anybody else besides me think that this game is kinda boring?
