PSPwiki, a Japanese homebrew uploader website, has been shutdown on November 18th under pressure from Sony. For those who have been around the homebrew scene for a while you will recognize PSPWiki as the hub of Japanese homebrew releases. On October, 21st the PSPWiki webmaster posted the following message: I'm 99% sure those b******s have posted the pressure and warnings on the forums. I really hate to give in to the threats from those b******s including SCEI. It's tiresome, but I have to take this chance to stop all the uploaders. Once they are stopped, those b******s and that company will be happy. The date for shutting down the uploader server is still pending. And after almost a month, it has happened. It is really a shame that Sony strikes the PSP homebrew scene in any manner they can. Sony is trying to kill the scene which has helped them to promote the PSP since day 1. Wake up, Sony!!!! |

yeah guys wtf, chill the hell out fine let the psp be your friggen last sony system sony wont care and ill be enjoying some kick ass games and homebrew
also i always hated that psp wiki place
If you were to tell Sony that PSP sales were partially to do with homebrew, they would tell you to get lost. It's true though. Once Sony start to distribute 2.5PSPs, sales will drop by about 15%, I think.
Sony sucks.
they are really hypocrites. They are selling cd's with virus (rootkits) that violate the GPL of Lame MP3 and VLC, they are violating copyright, and then they accuse homebrew of piracy and copyright infringement, when they are the first ones to do it.
The PSP is the last thing i buy to Sony. NEVER MORE, Sony.
P.D: i really hope someone betrays them and release the official SDK and the program to sign psp executables. They deserve that and a lot more.
I think people should lay off Sony. They made you a PSP in the first place. Let them do what ever they want.
Sony played the biggest part in PSP homebrew.
SONY deserves no pity. They infected 500 000 networks worldwide for no other reason then greed. I, frankly, would be just as happy were they to shut down tomorrow.
At least I still have my DS, and loving it.
Anyone wanna trade my PSP for a Gamepark 32X? :)
sony is going to fall if yhey keep doing this probably by 2525 they will be flat broke
i buying a gp2x sony. the psp is the last thing im buying from sony you guys guest want money a gp2x is way more affored able than a psp and its way better and. you know what sony what going to be your vs against the gp2x the psp v2 is that it
Sony played the biggest part in PSP homebrew.

This is the biggest lie ever. Sony is the one who is out to ban homebrew from their precious PSP handheld because it is "not what the system was meant for" in their own words. Sorry, they may have made the PSP but have nothing to do with the homebrew scene itself.
Eitherway in our point of view its a very bad thing but from others its a good thing. Just think about it what does parents think about a company that allows things like homebrew or have a company that doesn't allow this sort of thing. I for one don't really care because I know for fact that Sony won't be able to stop them all. Its like marijuana growers in canada. You bust one place and there are like 10 new grow houses in the process. Sony stops one homebrew site and there will be many more to come.
As for the gp2x yes its good for homebrew and stuff but the only reason I bought my psp is for the games/video playing/mp3 playback/homebrew. Homebrew was mainly an extra insentive to buy the psp.
Sidenote if sony really does include a hd with the new psp i'll end up buying it to. Just think about it they technology is out there from datel sony will just dive in and make money with it.
$ony suck$...
Sony cant prevent homebrew...or the sites that promote it. The PSP was not designed to run this code, but look how much has been built for the PSP using homebrew. If anything Sony should be supporting the homebrew scene, producing homebrew loaders maybe for future firmware versions. Of course, this would lead to some problems, like FastLoader running UMD ISOs. But Sony could limit some programs to what they could do. Would Sony really do something like this? No. But hopefully Sony would be smart about it, and support it.
Think about what you just said pspmagic. Sony supporting homebrew?? HA! That will never happen...
Anyways they dont have to support it, they could just stop stopping it. That wont happen either because Sony is just a huge company full of greedy little bastards
my guess is that Sony's actually afraid that an UMD ISO player is made, if i were Sony, that would be my worst fear, but wth do i know anyway XD
Also, Sony made the PSP, with the intention of Music, Photos, Videos and Games, many bought it for the homebrews, but that was made later, that wasn't the main porpuse, they didn't made it for that reason, so Sony sucks beacuse they are preventing something that could damage their profits, face it people, they didn't made the portable gaming machine just beacuse they want to bring jolly hapiness to the world, they work for this, who exactly are the selfish ones here...??
