Konami reports third quarter: Pro Evolution drives sales - Image 1

Konami has been around for a good long while (it entered the gaming industry on 1973) and has become one of the more prominent names in the industry. It's developed popular games and franchises such as Metal Gear and Castlevania.

It's recently released its financial report for the period from April to December of last year. The report shows a strong and steady growth from previous years. They report JP¥ 32,154 million in operating income (US$ 300 million), a 122.8% growth from last year, as well as whopping JP¥ 229,730 million (US$ 2.1 trillion) for consolidated revenues, a 108.1 % increase since last year.

They name some of their stronger titles and franchises this year: Metal Gear (of course), Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (PC, Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, DS) and the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game ("particularly strong in the Japanese market).

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (also known as Winning Eleven) was released on all major platforms and recently grabbed second place in Japan's best selling list, topped only by Wii Fit.
