LA Rush

For the guys who loved the original L.A. Rush arcade version, hated the PS2 port, and are probably awaiting news for the PSP version that Midway said was arriving this month, we got something that should rev you up: It's here. With nary any news since they released the game trailer, Midway has just announced that they've unlocked the handbrake on this awaited title, so expect to find a copy of this game racing to your local retail store within two to three days.

For those still unsure of what this game's about, L.A. Rush is a stunt car game that puts you behind the wheels of one of 50 different cars as you and your friend tear through L.A.'s backstreets either online, or the game's story mode - think "Dukes of Hazard" meets Tony Hawk, meets Need for Speed. Like we said, keep your fingers crossed as it lands in your local dealership.

L.A. Rush for the PS2 has been criticised by the lack of options to customize cars. It also took the brunt for excluding several areas of Los Angeles, including San Fernando Valley. If Midway Games learned from those criticisms, we should be expecting a better game version for the PSP. We'll soon find out when the PSP game speeds to retail shops in November.

Just like in the PS2 and Xbox versions, the PSP version will feature a story mode that lets you drive around the streets of L.A. in more than 50 pimped up vehicles, 36 of which are based on real life licensed cars.

Midway has released a new trailer that features cars doing crazy jumps and spins in the stunt arena. Of course, there's the nitro boost to help you outrace your opponents in the battle mode via Wi-Fi.

Check out the trailer.

Today, Midway published 11 new screenshots and 1 trailer for their upcoming title L.A. Rush, to be released in the fourth quarter of 2006.

The trailer is mostly CGI that provides a set up for the story (if you can call it a story). You'll witness some sort of event where a racer gets hooked up with his new ride, and tests it out by going on out the streets where a race ensues. If you want to see footage of the game in action, wait until almost the end of the movie after the game title appears.

Since the trailer weighs in at 42.3mb, you can take a look at these screenshots in the meantime! I see a Corvette, a Saleen... and, wait! Is that Barbie's Dream Car?
