Homebrew - LEDA - Legacy Software Loader beta 0.1 - Image 1Aaaaaand Dark AleX does it again with the release of LEDA, the Legacy Software Loader.

LEDA integrates into M33 custom firmwares to let you run your old 1.0 and 1.5 kernel-based homebrew apps. It also works on the Slim. Here are the release notes from Dark Alex:

Description:
  • LEDA is a program that integrates into M33 custom firmwares to let some old 1.00/1.50 homebrew to run.
  • To avoid waste of memory, leda is only loaded when necessary.
  • Current compatibility is unknown as is still in beta.
  • Although it may work on previous m33 versions, it has only be tested on 5.00 M33.
  • The development of LEDA doesn't mean that development of 1.50 kernel addon will be ceased. 1.50 addon is very easy to code, and thus it will still be coded for almost full 1.5 compatibility, but LEDA has some advantages over it.
Advantages:
  • It works on slim too
  • It doesn't need much flash space
  • You don't need to care about which folder your homebrew is.
  • LEDA first tries to load the homebrew program normally. If it works, then the homebrew is a 3.XX+ one, and leda terminates itself to not waste RAM. Otherwise, leda does some patches to load the 1.0/1.5 homebrew.
  • Unlike 1.50 kernel addon, LEDA tries to be independent of firmware. This means that whenever a new version of M33 is released, leda will probably work without need of an update.
Disadvantages:
  • Less compatibility. Anyways, I will try to make LEDA compatible with those old homebrew that are still useful today because they weren't updated or because they have a better old version.
Install instructions:
  • Copy LEDA folder to /PSP/GAME and run it. The program will install a prx in the system, this will be done very quickly. After this, you can already try to run 1.0/1.5 homebrew normally from XMB; LEDA folder is not needed anymore in the ms and you can delete it if you want.
Also note that this is not compatible with Time Machine. Now, enjoy!

 » PeP Viewer 0.8 works!

I tried PeP Viewer 0.8 and it works fine. Its in my GAME150 folder if that helps. I'll try it more when I get back home.

I couldn't...at least with these I had on my memory card.Well,DaX says it has compatibility issues because it is still Beta,so we'll have to wait.

K-I-S-S-A-S-S
We all make phuck-ups. Why do you think that we're on M33-6? -6!!

No'one gets it right the first time, and the last time I checked, this is a beta.
Defy insanity, an EXPECT, different results.

 » oh...

ok now i see...it doesnt work with wifi sniffer or any 1.50 web browser either...

 » nice

If the compatibility can come close to matching 1.50 kernel add on down the road, this will be a cool app.

   Re: iamshadow - 2009-02-02
 » not possible

the 1.50 add on in NOT compatible with the Slim PSP and never will be because of hardware problems

   Re: nyr2k2 - 2009-02-02
 » sorry

I wasn't even thinking about the Slim, as I'm a phat user!

Anyway, can't you run 1.50 with Time Machine on a Slim?

   Re: akadewboy - 2009-02-02
 » .

Yes, but that requires Pandora Battery and you have to reboot your PSP. This patch is much more convenient for slim users. Obviously if you're a phat user then the 1.50 kernel is a better option.

   Re: pokerpoker - 2009-02-02
 » @iamshadow

no, if you read devs posts, it is possible to make 1.50 kernel for slim, but they didnt make it because many devs think 1.50 old and shouldnt be used anymore

   Re: Djhg2000 - 2009-02-03
» This if good, really good! Still...

Call me conservative or w/e, I would still run the 1.50 CFW PoC on my black phat if I could play the newer games on it...
It was really small compared to 3.00+.
I also liked fastloader, but I think that could be ported to the later M33 FWs.

Yep, the good old days...

 » Hey

Could someone tell me the names of some good old homebrew apps /games.

Sure I could search, but there are loads of homebrew apps out there and I want to which old ones are worth trying them.

I always wanted to play Super Mini Mario, maybe this will help

   Re: lastad - 2009-02-02
 » cool game

try laserix, it was the first homebrew game i ever played but with my slim i cannot play it, maybe with this i will once again relieve the wonders of the psp

And those Miriam fans were boo hooing over him retiring. DAX you are the man. This worx great with my PSP Slim M33 *cough*andnotthatcrappyHEN*cough*

   by Drunk Vegan - 2009-02-02
 » very nice

This is huge.

Yeah, 1.5 / 1.0 eboots can be run with Time Machine, but who wants to reboot their PSP every time they want to run a homebrew or switch to another one?

Besides, Time Machine is incompatible with PSP-3000 homebrew given that PSP-3000 can't use Pandora. So the only way PSP-3000 users are going to be able to use 1.5 and 1.0 homebrews when the eLoader or HEN is released, will be by using this program.

 » Game150

This only seems to work if the homebrew is in the GAME150 folder....at least for me and my slim....

GAME folder doesn't work...

   by UndYinG - 2009-02-02
 » ass!

tried all my fav 150 apps none worked neither in GAME or GAME150...

   Re: UndYinG - 2009-02-02
