Leipzig - Image 1During last month's Games Conference in Leipzig, the awards for "Best in Show" were given out. There were eight awards for Best Game, each category representing a platform, while a final award was given for Best Hardware.

Of the nine announced awards, three of them were given to Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE): LittleBigPlanet for the PS3 category, Resistance: Retribution for PSP, and PlayTV for Hardware.

Ever wondered what reasons the jury and panelists gave to justify the awards for these products? Three Speech enlightens us on what judges had to say about the three winners:
  • LittleBigPlanet: Best Game for PS3. "It adds both a social and a creative element to the console world: the gamer community becomes the developer community. LittleBigPlanet comes with a convincingly vivid backdrop and almost unlimited possibilities with entertaining level structure."
  • Resistance: Retribution: Best Game for PSP. “Neither the small console nor the gamer can take a breather till Europe has been liberated from an extraterrestrial fleet of invaders.”
  • PlayTV: Best Hardware. “The remote function is particularly impressive, making it possible to watch recorded TV shows or live TV programmes on the PSP.”

PlayTV: Best Hardware. “The remote function is particularly impressive, making it possible to watch recorded TV shows or live TV programmes on the PSP.”

that aint its hardware
thats its software, the hardware doesnt touch the psp (wired nor wirelessly)

its PlayTv > PS3 (this is the hardware that shouldve got the award) > PSP

anyway i hate PLayTv

id be happy to buy Playtv, if it came as a usb which reached around to the back for your ps3 (keep the shape)
and is an adapter for a Av cable or whatever

id pay the same amount, even if they were both launched

because have freview bulit into to my TV, i dont want ANOTHER ugle box sitting beside the ps3

seriously i have no problem paying the same price, shame sony is yet to confirm such a device :(

» play tv is the hardware

no hardware would be anything without software. the play tv hardware handles the signal and all that but it needs the software to record and anything. they were simply stating that for hardware on consoles the play tv beats them out right then listed the reasons why(what the software utilises out of the hardware) overall i think its cool but i dont think id buy it i have sky full package lol
