Lua Flasher is a Lua-based application for flashing PSP units - Image 1Homebrew coder splodger15 dropped by the QJ Forums today and released another application called Lua Flasher. A few of this developer's most notable creations are probably PSP Turismo and Patch SFO v.01.

Anyway, this next project is entirely different from the two mentioned applications from the same homebrew developer. Lua Flasher, when ran, offers the ability to change and create backups of the listed files below when flashing. The backup files will be placed to the root of your memory stick.

  • Flash Backgrounds: (01-12.bmp)
  • Top Menu Plugin: (Icons)
  • Opening Plugin: (Startup sound)
  • Gameboot.PMF: (Movie played when a game is started)
  • System_Plugin_bg: (Background Waves)
splodger15 was also wise to add a feature that prevents the program from running when the battery life of your PlayStation Portable (PSP) is below 75%. Given this, please still take all necessary precautions whenever you're dealing with programs such as Lua Flasher. Even splodger15 mentioned that you should use this with caution because there is always a chance of bricking. The readme's also there for a reason.

This application is not needed, but it does have a purpose. If someone is unsure of what they're doing they can use this. If it crashes it shouldn't cause any damage to the Flash, cuz it's only making a copy. Don't use the corrupted backup file.

The reson why 'LUA apps' crash is because the coder suck, don't blame LUA.

I trust the devs ability to code things becuase i have played PSP turismo but i would not trust my psp with a LUA flasher. LUA crashes alot and if it crashed in the middle of a flash like a topmenu plugin what would happen to your PSP on start up? a corrupted menu? no menu? a RSOD? please stop coding flashers it is very simple to flash things your self. and noobs you dont have to flame me becuase im not bashing QJ or the dev ok?

just because you don't trust it doesn't mean other people don't either. Personally i prefer manual flashing through the recovery menu but some people may be interested in this as an alternative to X-Flash or something

if you want people to register for your forums take it off DL.qj and make them find it on the forums

 » Dont post this...

First... We have alot of flashers!!! I would never use this since lua is abit inestable also, why the heck we would use this instead flashagent??.

Personally I think that this is a 15min to do snippet, this doesnt proff that you are good, leave this or just make these
flashers to flash your custom themes, icons and that stuff to another people´s psp. Seriously this is not needed!. Try to code your games...

I knew this was coming, I just knew it. Lua + My PSP's flash0 = murder.

We already have enough flashers for a poor african child to own two or three.
There are too many flashers, and unless one is a groundbreaking, fantastic thing then nobody is going to use it. Plus, this is lua, and as many has said, it might end up doing more harm than good when it comes to your PSP's internals...

"We already have enough flashers for a poor african child to own two or three."

WTF??!!

 » ehm

I was saying that there were so many that we could give a different flasher to every child in Africa and still have a few spare. Figure of speech, it was a joke at a speech I had to listen to a few days ago.
