Luamines01

Luamines, developed and emailed in by Dragula96, is a homebrew game coded in Lua (as you've probably guessed), and follows the Tetris-like theme of the PSP launch title, Lumines. This version is still quite buggy, and at the moment there is no way to lose.
It needs optimization, as it can be little slow at times, and as you can see from the screenshot, for some reason the game doesn't cover the whole screen of the psp - but it is still very fun to play. Although it has its bugs, it is still as easy and as fun to play as Lumines; and personally, i can't wait until the next release!

Note: Lua Player is required to play this game.

version 0.02
------------

 » Ah

This might be the reason why Sony don't want us to have homebrew...

Well its not technically breaking the law is it? Because the dev has made everything themselves.

» Yeah, its not breaking any laws.

I can completly port any game as long as its my own code and images :P

» this is hardly a "port"

beign on the same system, its just beign ported to a half-assed coding language =P

It looks good tho, but If I want a half-assed Lumines experience, Ill use the 30MB ISO lol

this isnt bad tho, it looks good, hopefully soem updates might make tis worht playing, but for now, its just better to play the Lumines UMD

Why not just buy the game lumines??? It only requires a 1.5 firmware and it's pretty cheap now. Why bother with a homebrew of lumines is beyond me?

 » vfsdfasdf

so you don't have to actually BUY it for 50 dollars lol..

   by xDivinexMalicEx (Unregistered) - 2006-05-21
 » One upside

The only real upside to having this is that you don't have to switch between GTA and Lumines. the real lumines UMD is better, so many more features and music. But this is a plus for those who just want the raw game experience.

 » why

kudos on keeping the homebrew scene going, and a nice coding job - but why spend ur time trying to code a game that's already on PSP? not to mention, a game that's almost flawless in presentation and execution...
o well, good work

   by nice (Unregistered) - 2006-05-21
» i have the Lumines UMD

but i dont care, i still would love to play this game

keep up the good work

cant wait for an update

If it doesnt work, just remove the "System.usbDiskModeActivate()" from index.lua

At the top :)

 » copyrights

Recently there has been a surge of homebrew clones of popular PC games to the PSP. Clones such as StarCraft, Age of Empires, Red Alert, and more. Remember, developer companies of these games still have active copyrights on their games. Ripping sprites from their games and using them in your own homebrew port is illegal, regardless of what coding of the backend is like (obviously homebew code since the source for these games has not been released yet). Also, using the game's name in your port, even with different in-game sprites, is also illegal. So you could have a clone of say StarCraft, call it StarCraft PSP, and use different sprites as well, but you would still be producing illegal material

Loving the blatant ripoff of their logo and the fact you can't die :D

Nice work, mate. Looking forward to the updates :)

 » luamines 2?!

ahead of myself? yes. BUT, it is a possibility....more-new-greater features=the future of this homebrew!!! thank you!

   by eniway (Unregistered) - 2006-05-21
 » What's the point?

Why rip a game FOR the PSP anyway? Why not just go out and buy a copy of Lumines? It would be much much better than this one anyway.

Those of you who think this is a ripped version of Lumines, you are sadly mistaken, this is a clone of it written in LUA. Don't you people bother to read?!!
