The MTV Game Awards 2008 has wrapped up and you wouldn't guess which one got the Game of the Year award. Come on, guess. Grand Theft Auto 4? Natch. Best party game went to Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, while best Multiplayer game went to Call of Duty 4. You can check out the full list of winners and runners up after the source link.

This year MTV also gave their first ever Lifetime Achievement Game Award to Hideo Kojima for the Metal Gear series. Well and truly deserved. They even got Jade Raymond to hand over the trophy. After receiving the trophy, Kojima took the opportunity to say "I will not retire. I will continue to create games as long as I live."

 » well..

I don't know about German mtv but usually the US Video game awards are extremely biased and therefore full of ***** and mean absolutely nothing in terms of how good a game is.

All they do is give awards to local North American games with no regard for worldwide released titles and with no rating/ranking/voting system whatsoever. They just give out awards to whomever they please blindingly and it's usually a very screwed up affair.

 » Let's face it.

Hideo Kojima deserves recognition for creating what is one of the greatest series of games ever. Metal Gear Solid, I believe, has a better story than most films. Seriously.

Take a bow, Kojima-San.
