AcidMods, needless to say, is known around the PlayStation Portable online community for providing gamers with excellent ideas on modifying their consoles. Mostly, these modifications concern aesthetic changes and hacks.

One of its members, l0rdnic0, uploaded a YouTube video showing a mod for both the PSP Fat and PSP Slim & Lite that allows users to turn off/on the Sony handheld without even touching its power switch button.

"All you would need beside the switch installed is a small magnet," explained l0rdnic0. While the clip below is just an intro and serves as a proof-of-concept, the modder promised to upload another one tomorrow that should give you the step-by-step process on how to go about this specific mod.

All he has done is removed the switch and soldered a small reed switch over the terminals.

He has palmed a magnet which throws the reed switch as you pass over it, same for turning it off.

It's quite a clever idea, simple but clever but it does mean you have to carry a magnet around with you.
