Sometimes it takes a real man - or in this case a woman - to show ultimate
fandom. This girl actually had a tattoo placed on her arm depicting
Katamari Damacy. Now this is not uncommon, people get tattoos of their
favorite characters all the time. But Katamari Damacy? Click here to see the rest of the pics. |

Even though Cooking Mama only came out for the DS and will soon to be out for the Wii, that doesn't mean that Sony fans can't prepare their own dish with some Katamari flavour in it. For the otaku QJ bloggers, sushi dishes will always have a special place in their hearts. It's a space occupied just right beside that other spot that has "Katamari" splashed right over it. So why not overlap both circles and create some Katamari sushi?
Knuttz posted an online album of sushi art, and among them feature none other than The Prince and The King of all Cosmos. As far as we're concerned, no planets were destroyed in the process of rolling up these sushi. Will there now be a Cooking Mama Katamari game in the works? Me & My Kalamari, here we come! |

The Katamari universe has been quiet lately. After the King of All Cosmos and the Royal Family have taken a much needed vacation in Me & My Katamari, everyone thought that we've seen the last of this bizarre and uniquely addictive game. But how sure are we of this? We just might get, not only one sequel, but three! Good thing 1Up was able to rake in some info on some trademarks that Namco Bandai have registered. Last August 22, they filed trademarks for "Beautiful Katamari Damacy" and "Katamari Damacy Tres Bien". Then on September 7, they filed for "Katamari Damacy-kun". Are you rubbing your chin in deep thought yet? Does this mean we're going to see new games in the Katamari series? Considering that their most previous game, Me & My Katamari, was released for the PSP early this year in the U.S., what reason would they have to register these new trademarks after all the Katamari hype, unless they wanted to expand their franchise? If it's a new game, who knows? Y'know, they might have registered these trademarks because they wanted to establish some fan clubs or something - a TV show, a series of books, a real-life Katamari playground, anything! But if we were to think of the possibility of a game, we're going out on a limb here. For what console could it be? What with the SIXAXIS motion-sensing functions, Namco Bandai could even be eyeing a sequel that'll roll its way onto the PS3. The SIXAXIS would be a keen tool to help you roll that Katamari ball around! But all this is mere speculation - a What If situation. So stop and think about it for a second. Could this be it? |

Haven't been caught up with Me and My Katamari yet? Now would be a good chance to get on the ball, as EB Games/Gamestop stores are now selling this cute little game for only $20. For those of you not quite sure of what this game is, here's a brief intro: The King of the Cosmos and the Royal Family are taking a vacation from all their work creating the...umm...Cosmos, when the King accidentally creates a tsunami and wipes out a nearby island. As the crown prince, it's your job to help gather materials from nearby areas to help repair the damage, which you do by rolling ANYTHING up into a ball, be it paperclips, mice, cars, people, ships or Godzilla. Anything. This is the third installment in the games series and was the first to be ported to a portable player, the first being Katamari Damacy, followed by We Love Katamari. While this installment of the game didn't match up to its previous versions, it's still a fun and funny game to pick up for your PSP. |

Katamari game developer Kaita Takahashi had announced his hopes to move on from video games and fulfill his lifelong dream - to design a children's playground, a real one and not the virtual type. Although he went back for a while to help out with We Love Katamari, he has no connection whatsoever with the PSP spin-off, Me and My Katamari. There were some speculations about the end of the Katamari series after the PSP version received mixed yet somewhat positive reviews from gamers. The constant bickering and disagreements of its creators also did not help rejuvenate the series. But in a recent interview, Takahashi implied that he expects that Namco will go on and create more Katamari games. In his own words, he said that "I know I won't be working on it right now, but I think Namco will probably continue it. It's still a viable franchise. I had nothing to do with the PSP version, so clearly they can keep making them on their own...So yeah, I won't be having anything to do with it anymore, but Katamari is not finished." As for his dream to be a children's playground designer, that seems to be on hold for now. Apparently Mr. Takahashi is working on a game for a next-generation system (Clue- It ain't for Wii). Whatever happens, we will surely keep you posted. |

Some of you may know about the free Katamari case that EB Games were giving away as a 'demoware' status bonus good. Well now it seems that Gamestop.com are giving the case away on their website as part of a bonus with the game. The total is $39.99 and like stated, it includes the Me & My Katamari game and also the colourful, unique case for your PSP.Thanks to twilighter for the heads up... |

A reader of ours named Kenny (who also goes by Cr85bro13) decided to drop in to his local EB Games the other day. After asking one of the clerks for some PSP demos, to his surprise he was handed a novelty case from Me and My Katamari. As you can see from the picture, this is certainly an odd looking case, especially for the alienated few who haven't seen or heard of Katamari. These were originally only going to be offered for Japanese pre-orders, but they've clearly made their presence in the States too. Although we can't say for sure if every store will be like this, it can't hurt to check out an EB Games store near you to see if they have any Katamari cases in stock. Thanks again to Kenny/Cr85bro13 for informing us and providing the picture! |

Although it's a little depressing that the Prince will no longer be
starring in any more Katamari video games, that shouldn't stop us from
enjoying Me & My Katamari
exclusively for the PSP. Bringing over this beloved series to a
handheld device was a challenge that even the King of Cosmos himself
would've been intimidated by, but Bandai Namco Games managed to do a
great job at accomplishing this. Featuring dozens of royal cousins,
plenty of unlockable costumes, and some interestingly designed
challenges, Me & My Katamari is a game that newcomers and veterans alike should embrace with open arms.Be sure to check out the 'full article' for the in-depth review. |

According to the Katamari homepage, copies of what is supposedly the last in the popular series should be popping up all over North America by now. The reviews have already begun to pop, and so far they're...somewhat lackluster: "still pretty entertaining — but only in small doses." reads 1up's review. It seems "Me and My" hasn't entirely managed to escape what seems to be a growing PSP curse: company ports popular PS2 games to the PSP, only to discover it just isn't up to the task. Scale-backs in game content follow, and the end result is a weakened game.Still, Me and My Katamari has a lot going for it. It's a Katamari game for goodness sake. The fans will come. Despite the flaws, the rough edges, and even the new control system. And with any luck, I'll probably be among them. |
