TDU - Image 1

Test Drive Unlimited is one of the most highly anticipated games for the PSP. With the release of the Xbox 360 version, the people at Atari have a lot to live up to. However, judging from these screens, it looks like they're on the right track. The detail on the cars and backgrounds are great for a PSP game. If the gameplay is as good as the screens, then we could be looking at a must-have PSP game this year. We can only wait and see if the game lives up to the hype it has been generating among gamers everywhere.

So for now, let's content ourselves with these TDU pics for the PSP.

I have already got this game, the graphics and draw distance are amazing, however, there seems to be some minor glitches in the game.. for example, when you drive in the grass the car seems to crash into somthin, but when you reverse back to check what it was that put your car to a stand still..... there is nothing there! wierd?

Other than that the game seems to run fine......... at times it does seem to get a bit repetative. but still an all round good game. ;)

it doesn't look as good as the screenshot shown,
but the island is amazing!
it's so ffing big you wont believe it
i spent 2 hours just racing in a straight line (as much as possible) and i'd just seen a quarter of the island!!

 » those screens

Those are screens of the cutscenes. I agree that they look amazing, actual gameplay does NOT. Those screen shots are misleading. The gameplay is extremely buggy right now. Control is horrible, draw distance is NOT as good as hallo is making it out to be.

The map is huge, and looks really good, but so far that's the best part of the game. The graphics and gameplay don't remotely touch Ridge Racer yet.

Here are some actual in-game shots:

They have a looong way to go till this game even looks and feels good.

 » I Agree...

I am sooooo glad that i am not the only one experiencing these glitches.

I guess this is just the PROMO addition and they are still perfecting the game as we speak...(I Hope).

the reason the game doesnt look that polished for real and has glitches is because you bootleggers r playing the promo..

it doesnt mean that the games fully done..

 » really ?

didn't i say "They have a long way to go" ? I thought I did. I understand that this is an unfinished "build" of the game. Much like a demo, this HOPEFULLY doesn't represent what the game will actually look like.

Again, just as I said above, they are misrepresenting the game by posting the screen shots of cut scenes. The game doesn't look ANYTHING like them. I don't care how much work they put into the final release, the game will not look like the cut scenes.

Get back in the *****ing kitchen and cook burgers, thats all your ment for you *****ing scumbag.

 » The game doesn't suck

Calm down. I downloaded the game too, and judging by the quality it should vary a fair bit (bug wise) from the official release. Its really NOT THAT BAD. Only reason Id ont like it, its hard to win races, control isn't great. and my Nub Stick popped off, new ones coming in the mail next week :D

» not bad... could be better...

Yes the version people are playing right now is a beta demo...

I agree though, the game is being misrepresented by those cut scene screenies, the game play does NOT look like that. If it did, I would buy this game in a heart beat...

Poor draw distance, "shuddering" opponents at start of races, SLOW map detail load times, innacurate scenery (I was in Oahu not too long ago and there are quite a few landmarks missing, city skyline innacurate, I say this cause they are touting how accurately the island has been recreated, all the roads are there kinda but not always accurately as far as switchbacks etc.), slow physics reactions, very difficult races (cars that should not outrun you do), winnings vs. cost out of proportion (you win next to nothing but have to spend a fortune to buy new stuff, cars upgrades, houses, etc.) this stuff needs to be fixed (and hopefully will be) to live up to the hype they are pushing for this game. They need to spend less time and space on things like 360 degree house views, cut scenes, etc. and spend more on in game graphics...

Overall, it's fun and I enjoy playing it, it needs marked improvement before release though...

» what the ***** are you lot on?

Er....

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but QJ are talking about the game,

AND every one else is, talking about a PROMO ISO that they downloaded?

Well ***** me, no wonder it probably doesn't look like that.

In the PROMO, the mclaren f1 GTR doesn't even have a frigging engine.

The promo is a BETA, its a disk sent out to beta testers for bug fixing, and some moron released it early.

You must be a real dumb ***** to think that this is a representation of the full game

Even the PC open beta had bugs and less cars than the full version.

What the hell do you people expect from a leaked half finished game.

as to the person saying "ridge racer is better" yeah, because it requires no skill in USING THE BREAK. and uses fantasy make believe cars and tracks

PS. as for draw distance, its a PSP game, if you want draw distance get a decent PC and get it on that when it comes out.
