More details on WipEout Pulse - Image 1

Whenever WipEout Pulse is concerned, we know you're all interested and excited so here are a few new details from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) itself. In case you're still in doubt with this video game's merits, maybe you'll be comforted to know that it is being handled by Sony's award-winning Studio Liverpool.

We mentioned in our last post that several downloadable content are already being planned for WipEout Pulse even this early. SCEE revealed today that these include tracks, futuristic ships, high-tech weapons, and tunes. Speaking of which, the video game's soundtrack will be done by a range of top artists like Mason, Loco Dice, and Stanton Warriors, among others.

It is already a given that the anti-gravity combat racing title will sport both single player and multiplayer modes. But did you know that there will be a total of seven modes and one of them is a Photo Mode? Here, you can snap a photo of your ship at any time. Also, the game allows players to create their own events in the Ad Hoc and Infrastructure modes.

And then, of course, there are also the mentioned features like the 24 reversible circuits and eight teams including the new EG-X outfit. And how can we forget about the new Mag-strip track feature? It allows for a huge variety and dynamism in track design including loops, vertical drops, and 90 degrees angled sections.

We should add that WipEout Pulse is coming along really nicely and we should be able to witness its full glory come September 2007.

"well I work at Gamecrazy and I've noticed that in the past month of March I've sold only 6 PSP systems and like 20 something DS Lites...I don't think a price drop will make a big difference but at least a noticeable one.

Like 80% of the customers that come in this store who want a handheld are kids or teens under 16 who have parents that watch out for the ESRB ratings like a hawk. Most of the kids/teens come in looking for a PSP but there parents refuse to buy it because it has a lot of M-Rated games and it costs so much. Don't get me wrong I try and sell the PSP to people who would benefit from it most like teenagers because of the music and video stuff but they just don't have the money or their parents just flat out refuse to buy it mainly because of M-rated games.

Well... I do know that when Poketman comes out on the 22nd, the DS is gonna skyrocket, but I do have hopes that the PSP will still do well with all the blockbuster games soon to come out. and yes, i meant to say poketman...

We have over 100 pre-orders for both Diamond and Pearl (Combined). I have yet to place a pre-order on a PSP game in the last month and a half.

I hate to see the PSP get blown out like this because IMO its the better handheld in terms of variety, graphics, and versatility. As much as I try and push sales for the PSP its the always the same things that changes peoples minds i.e. m-rated games and price.

It seems that the only thing to seal the deal on buying a PSP for customers is when they see me play Super Mario 3 on my PSP during my lunch breaks, 80% of the time they cough up their savings for a wii, 360, etc to buy a PSP and mod it like mines."

What is your purpose? To show everybody why the best handheld is the one that sells the least?

How much does Microsoft pay you?

wtf does the above comment have to do with anything? anyways, i'm sooo looking forward to pulse. i just recently got re-addicted to pure, so now i'm way stoked about pulse, especially that mag-strip feature.

I'm really looking foward to this game. I first one was great and easily one of the best PSP games out there. They've annouced all these cool stuff, but will Online multiplayer be in the game? That would be great and will deffenitly make this game better.

the first version of wipeout had a great design: nice packaging, interfaces, logos, in game screens... it was all done by "real" graphic designers (Designer Republic). As well the music was done by "real" musicians... All this gave a very innovative spirit to the game... it was not a toy for childs.
I hope the new version will keep the quality high!!

Wipeout Pure had SO MUCH downloadable content, it made the game last forever (I'm still trying to master ZONE mode). Well done Sony Liverpool - can't wait for the next installment...

 » Track maker

A track maker would be the best thing ever. I hope one day that will be a reality. It could be made for the PC to work with wipeout.
