While Japanese retailers already spilled the low-priced beans on an upcoming round of budget PSP titles for Japan, Sony Computer Entertainment today shared box art for the series and added a few more games to the list.

The "PSP the Best" series (which, we'll be the first to say, includes a number of games that were never "the Best" anything) will kick off on 11/17. Making it into the lineup on that day will be Vampire Chronicle: the Chaos Tower, Metal Gear Acid, Minna no Golf Portable, Kotoba no Puzzle Mojipittan, Ridge Racers, Lumines and Armored Core Formula Front International. Each game will cost 2800 yen tax included, except Metal Gear Acid, which will be a bit cheaper at 2100 yen.

Following this first batch on 12/1 will be Need For Speed Underground Rivals, Derby Time, Doko Demo Issyo, Popolocrois, Tales of Eternia and Rengoku: The Tower of Purgatory. Each of these games will cost 2800 yen.

The release of the first batch of games is being timed to coincide with the release of the PSP Giga Pack, a PSP bundle that includes a one gigabyte Memory Stick. While the Giga Pack is coming to America, SCE has yet to announce a stateside budget lineup.

Games in the "PSP the Best" series will have new packaging, similar to the company's "PS2 the Best" lineup. Based on SCE's strategy with the PlayStation 2, we can probably expect the new PSP series to continue growing with an array of titles both good and bad.

So what.

These are all games that don't need Firmware above 1.5

So as always: dumb is the one who falls for the trick ;)

I wonder if the U.S. will ever get this deal. =/ Gaming seems to be going nowhere here. I mean, even Microsoft loves Japan and other countries more than us, lol.
