NJ's back!!! - Image 1 NJ's back!!! - Image 2

The past couple of months have indeed been crazy for the homebrew scene, what with all the exciting stuff that's been coming our way. While we absolutely don't mind being bombarded with PSX emulations, getting updates on other emulators ain't so bad as well. Especially if it's from someone whom we all thought has already dropped the project to tinker with some other bigger thing.

That someone we're referring to here is none other than the beloved NJ, and that project would be the CPS2PSP. Yeah, for a while back there, we sure thought he's done with it. But apparently, and fortunately so, he isn't. In fact, he's just released his CPS2PSP v1.8.4, and you can get it right here. Actually, there are two files for you to feast on: there's the regular zip file, and then there's the Ad Hoc zip file.

Now, Google translate has shown some rather interesting stuff from the translated page. Here's an excerpt:

About one month PSP had not touched, but the experiment which is transplanted to Windows/Linux privately with SDL correction of 1.66 bugs which with the process which does are discovered and, taking in the result of drawing speed improvement experiment of the line scroll which has become vague, you adjusted lastly. As for CPS2PSP, because the analysis of CPS2 is advanced with MAME, also cryptographic cancellation algorithm at 0.111u5 point in time is taken in.

Furthermore, because the intention which reopens the development with PSP it is not, please acknowledge beforehand.

  • Because only the binary which does not do kxploit it includes, when it executes with FW1.5, please use the installation utility for PSP.
  • Because the down grader of FW3.03 was released, it deleted the user mode edition which does not have meaning.
Right, you certainly can count on Google to have some decent translation... Anyways, if there's anyone out there in the know, please feel free to correct the translation. Oh, and if you want to check out the full translated page from NJ's site, just click on the Read link below.

what does this program do

   Re: milo22 (Unregistered) - 2007-02-08
 » it emulates CPS2

CPS2 (Capcom Play System 2) was an system used by capcom to handle all of their arcade games in the early to mid 90's. This particular program is a emualtor for this and it plays the arcade version of games such as Marvel vs. Capcom, X-men vs. Street Fighter, and the Street Fighter Alpha series.

 » Realistically

I play Marvel Vs Capcom 2 on a competitive level. His last rendition of CPS2 didn't render MVC well enough on a pro-level. Any players who play on a tournament level who played MVC on the new CPS2 have any comments on this?

Is this version of CPS2 "good enough" to run MVC flawlessly or are there still occasional slow downs? I'm not hating, I'm very appreciative, I just know that MVC is a heavy-duty game making it difficult for normal speed. Holla back

Try turning off raster effects, i dont see a noticeable drop in framerate, an occasional frame or 2.

 » help

I have a PSP with firmware 1.5 (and no I do not want to upgrade to 3.something) how do I get this stuff to work? I did everything the read me said, but I do not have the config file (the emulator is supposed to make this) and I get the error 80020001. Does it work on FW1.5 anyhow?? Normally there was a folder cp2psp%?
