QJ reports this as NEWS.... Of course they must be right, they use guesses!!! Awesome. NPD numbers are always wrong anyways. Hard to argue with idiots who will say anything bad about Sony that they can... Why don't you do a retail price comparison of all the sales..
Here, from vgchartz data on sales totals.
WORLD SALES
nintendo ds 42,500,000 sold (129.99 lite) 5,524,575,000 dollars
Nintendo Wii 7,090,000 sold (249.99) 1,772,429,100 dollars
Xbox 360 9,710,000 sold (399.99) 3,883,902,900 dollars
Playstation 3 3,310,000 sold (599.99) 1,985,966,900 dollars (more than the WII fuc ktards) (also, their world chart now shows 5.5 million sold)
Playstation Portable 21,330,000 sold (199.99) 4,265,786,700 dollars
Playstation 2 117,890,000 sold!! (i'll even say 129.99 although most of us paid much more) 15,324,521,100 Billions! And probably twice that in reality...
So who out there can really say sony doesn't know what they are doing!!! SERIOUSLY! They showed a loss because they spent HUGE money on this design, and only just started selling it! Give it time, and it'll outsell everything again. Nobody gives sony enough credit. They already sold more $$ than the wii did... Don't you people understand it's not just quantity its DOLLARS TOO??? Fu CKING news media can't do simple math either... ass holes. all of them.
That headline is WRONG -
360 sold - 174,000
PS3 DOWN to 82,000
360 is staying strong PS3 is slipping away, and in Japan the 360 is actually outselling the PS3 in software sales each month now.
Wii is killing the Ps3 and 360 in Japan looks like its going to be a race for second place the winner will proberly be the One who releases the big titles first.
OH and VGCHARTS,com here is the real WORLD sales figures-
http://www.vgchartz.com/
Click on HOME in top left if you cant see the world sales bars.
Xbox 360 - 9.71m
Wii - 7.09m
PS3 - 3.31m
It looks like someone has gone to the Sony school of economics.
Have you forgotten the Wii is making money on each unit (probably $100 to $150 profit) and the PS3 is losing money on each unit (about a $200 to $250 loss).
It should of evident now (to most people) that the Wii is going to win this generation. They have the casual gamer market cornered and have introduced less tech savy people into the gaming community. If only they could provide a better gaming experience for the hardcore gamers I would look at the console with more respect. It's up to the 360 and PS3 to duke it out for the remaining meat of the gaming industry.
To get their Blu-ray format into 3.3 million homes Sony will take a loss. The console race isn't a sprint, it's a marathon and Sony has already shown they know how to run with the PS2. Just wait until the PS3 really gets its legs.
What does sony pay you per post? Go back to sony fanboy school or move to japan.
Sony isn't Forrest Gump, PS3 will never have legs to run with the big boys. The losses they are taking on the PS3 is killing them because the sales keep declining. They got blu ray a decent head start but when the players are cheaper than $600 there will be little reason at all to get a PS3.
Sony just killed the Playstation name in gaming for blu ray. Went from 120 million consoles sold in 7 years to maybe 30.
Ps3 may have "made more money" but seriously man.... more wii units sold, and that is what matters, i am guessing that if nintendo sold it for 300 dollars (or 350) the same amount of people would have bought it... which is between 2126929100 dollars and 2481429100 dollars which is more than PS3... your logic is flawed, it is obvious that wiis are being sold more with less supply than PS3. Every store that i have been in has at least 3 PS3s in it, and guess what, NO Wiis... Nintendo knows how to appeal to the market... that is why they are winning (have one) the console war.
Plus, know one is going to buy 600 dollars worth of problems... all the ps3 is, is an updated ps2 with NO GAMES FOR IT... the controller is a hybrid between a wiimote( "six axis") and an xbox 360 controller (the triggers). And for the DS.. it prints m oney " 'nough said"
hey idiot...sony takes a hit on every PS3 sold so infact theyre losing money
you cant just take the retail price and somehow assume that its all profit
LMAO @ "IT PRINTS MONEY!!!!"
i'm still not getting a wii though, but my DS is coming soon
I so hate that picture.
For that matter I hate miyamoto, he's so frickin ugly
Without Shigeru Miyamoto, video games wouldn't be close to what they are today. How could you consider yourself a gamer and say you hate Miyamoto?
Your mom is ugly.
I LOL'd at that pic
Couldn't help but try and put a negative 360 title.
How about "GBA outsells PS3!"?
That's more of a shocker.
The 360 sales are reasonably steady. PS3 sales dropped by more than 35%. 82,000 is just horrible.
Wii is kicking ass, if it's gets some decent software maybe I'll buy one.
Yup that headline is totally wrong I think QJ may have made a mistake the PS3 is clearly the loser and the story below the headline says so, QJ you should correct that headline to PS3 SALES SLIPPING because as it is its wrong..
PS3 Fantards run qj apparently
people would rather get a GBA than a PS3 :(
if its true, then am afraid the Sony needs to act quickly
however,im not sure about these figures i,l take them with a grain of salt
heres a good site that contains a lot of useful information:
http://downloads.khinsider.com/?u=10373
[change the "plus" to "equals"
Whatever.. PS2 alone is kicking 360's ass.
The PS2 sells only 20,000 more than the 360, despite costing $270.00 less.
The XBOX 360 sells 92,000 more than your precious PS3, while costing $200 less.
WTF is your point, fantard?
The main problem is that Sony“s new managers are jews who also have Nintendo stocks. So actually what they do is ruining Sony“s entertainment sector to boost nintendo.
That“s also why the price for the PS3 is so incredibly high and why they spend so much money on it
how did you reach that conclusion...i,m curious
He“s right. You mustn“t trust jews in charge of a big company.
Joos you say? Grab your shotguns, it's open season.
Why single out these systems.. Why couldn't the headline just read, "Last Month's Sales Figures" and let people look at it. Very misleading... The news on the site is really starting to suck and its almost like you have to argue everything that goes on it. Time to hire an editor don't you think?
I think they mess the new sup on this site intentionally. it causes longer discussions, people get angry and start flooding the forms and checking for indiscrepencies in the headlines/news articles. Hence, getting more hits per page. Either that or you guys seriously have a retard in charge of reporting the news. The PS3 has the lowest number out of all the next gen consoles and you put 360 declining? I'm no fan boy but it sounds like a fan boy wrote that headline.
Don't look for those ps3 #'s to go up until later this year or whenever mgs4 and/or FFwhatever comes out. People are still waiting for the price to come down, but that won't happen until late summer next year, maybe.
Sony loses over $200 on every PS3 sold, you think they want to lose more than that while reporting a two billion dollar net loss? Keep dreaming fanboy, no price cut for you any time soon. You blame MS for using off the shelf components, but you're the ones paying for specialized parts in the PS3!
I'm laughing at all the nerds sitting there saying the title is wrong, its not wrong, your just not reading it right.
That title is perfectly fine, the XBOX360 is slipping, it used to be reigning champion, the big contender that Sony and Nintendo needed to quash, so to say that the xbox360 is slipping is justified.
The people stating its the PS3 that's the main loser in this are just Nintendo fan boys trying to get a knife in quick while the PS3 is down.
I for haven't found a "next gen" console worthy of taking the place of my PC.
Id never by a Wii, its too much of a kids toy, even though they advertise it with Adults, its still a gimmick.
PS3, is just way to expensive to even consider. id much rather spend the cash on up grading my car or PC. its a lot more fun.
XboX 360 is also just a waist of funds, Gears of war has better graphics than PC (i heard someone say once) LOL anybody noticed the lack of real textures in that game, hidden by smoke and the fact most people play it on a standard TV or TFT wide-screen with crap resolution and pixelated screen. Even HDTV is over rated. i mean were is the point in even getting one, when a monitor will and does preform better with higher resolution.
I hear all these console fan boys throwing the HD card, around but PC gamers have been enjoying it for the last 10 years.
Anyway, enough of this crap, cant be arsed no more, I'm off to play some good old home brew on my PSP.
Please note:

Yer you must know it all about next gen machines when you have a stupid hardly any original games all PS2 ports PSP !!!! LOL....
Well as a former rabit PC fanboy, i really think you need to do more research into the gaming comunity as it now stands. All of the points you made have been rehashed over and over ever since the 360 launched. The true value of consoles in ease of use and the living room evperience.
And please, dopnt start with insults about nerds when your post happens to be the longests post here, with really no substance other than trying to justify why you dont own a console, and to try and put others down to make yourself fell better.
Kthxbye
Tyuty, since when is a psp a next gen console? PS2 wasn't one, and the psp is basically a ps2, so... ?
Also, if your brain took in anything i said. i was off to play home-brew, as not much else is good with a PSP.
Lurker,
LOL if you think i need to put people down to make my self feel better, then you carry on thinking that.
TBH, i don't give a rats arse about anyone else who is sitting behind a computer on the other end of this message.
Also from what i gathered, you must be a nerd as you took a offencive stance on what i said about being a nerd? ROFL
And FYI its the longest post, because i was bored *****less and wanted to babble bullsh*t like everyone else.
Then on to the "ease of use and living room experience" part.
My PC is in my living room. its easy to use. even easier to use than a Console once I've taken a little bit of time to be prepared, IE: installing the games id like to play, updated them. then whack in a No CD crack. man i don't even have to leave the comfort of my Armchair to even put another game in the damn thing.
As for multiplayer games, that's OK, i just turn on the other 3 computers i have linked up to my router. then the lap top if i want to have a 4 player experience, wow, we even get our own screens instead of having to share a TV and if we all get bored of playing against one an other, we can always join a server (all while being in the same room) and go kick some ass on a server with anywhere up to 64 players on it.
So, unless you cant get your head around how to work a keyboard and mouse, i cant see how much easier a console is personally?
Ahh well, that killed a few more minutes.
Right, I'm off to the pub for a pint.

For instance battlefield 2/2142 are excellent games with outstanding multiplayer for free, but for some people PC's are just too expensive for gaming.
With a console its aa one off purchase every 5 yrs or so and no worries about hardware, but with a PC you tend to need to upgrade RAM and video cards every 2-3 years at a cost of maybe £100-150.
Then of course PC's are prone to dying or mess you around (not that i have because i can actually use a pc) and of course you have the rejects who cant boot xp without bluescreening.
Lol, Wii is going to win? I would give 360 a better chance. Wii will be the console until 2008. Then it will taper off because all the big games have been released already. The wii can't survive 3-4 years. Its just not future proof. Granted, Nintendo could just release a Wii 2.0 and there would be no argument. But you guys are counting out Sony too soon. The console is in this war for 10 years. Wii has maybe 2-3 at the most. Anyway, enjoy the Wii while it lasts. :)
If you look at the PS2, it wasn't exactly future proof when it released. No hard drive, no internet ( for the first year or two), and nothing to really differentiate itself from it's competition. It came out on top, though, because developers saw how large of a base it had. Large base+big $. If Nintendo is able to draw developers in with an early jump to the top, it has the potential to force Microsoft and Sony to fight for second. Whether or not it has staying power at the top depends on whether or not developers are willing to finally use their AAA and AAAA development teams on the system. Nobody can count a single console out of the running this early on in the war, but Sony better get its act together if it wants to stand a chance this time around.
Headline should have read,
Number of poor people on the increase... .
"Not this Christmas Son, Santa says you've been a bad boy"
most people i speak to agree that the ps3 is better than the 360 and the wii but they would buy a 360 before they would buy a ps3 simply because of the ps3 price tag
every one is waiting for ps3 to go down in price ,but i think when i eventually does go down in price it will only be about 20 or 30 pounds which is no good for the people who play on these consoles, people like parents buying for kids or young men who have to save up to buy the 49 pound games let alone 400 pounds for the console itself.
i know sony is losing money on every ps3 they make but if they are not carefull i think 360 will be above ps3 for quite a while unless they think of someway to lower the price,(in the uk we only get the choice to buy the more expensive modle of ps3,why not bring the lower priced modle over here.
Who would get a 360 over a PS3 simply based on price? If you have half a brain you'd get a 360 over a PS3 because of games, which the PS3 has about two of and the 360 about 15 really good ones
I was just about to make fun of all the unregistered 12-year-olds, but I can't register myself because right in the terms of service there's a line that says "I agree to pay for this service". I'm sure it's a mistake because they copied and pasted the TOS from downloads.qj.net, but I don't agree to pay to post comments.
Anyway, for the record, NPD is not some videogame fanboy organization. They cover everything from cars to clothes to food, and videogames is just another industry they report on. NPD started in 1967, before commercial videogames were even invented, and their numbers are used by retailers and the stock market to make purchase decisions. The figures they report are based on actual sales to actual consumers, just like Nielsen does for TV and Billboard does for music.
On the other hand, "vgchartz" was started four months ago by a couple of kids with a lot of free time who just keep track of sales figure announcements from the console makers. Then, when there hasn't been an announcement for a while, they use what they learned back in their 9th grade math class to make up "projected" sales figures, based on prior sales of each console. On top of that, they've been known to make the hilarious mistake of treating shipping numbers as sell-through numbers.
"vgchartz" is laughable; NPD is news.
1. vgchartz started by just taking NPD's numbers and massaging them in some secret way to get their "sales figures". They only stopped when NPD threatened to sue them into oblivion, and now, after making a plea to their users for people with retail connections to help them out, no one but them knows where they get their figures.
2. While NPD is the most comprehensive source of US retail data out there, Wal-Mart sales aren't included in their figures. Wal-Mart doesn't cooperate with sales analysis bodies; SoundScan is the definitive source of US CD sales and they don't get Wal-Mart figures either. So I guess it's possible that in some alternate universe, Wal-Mart is selling millions of PS3s while Wiis sit unbought on the shelves, and Wal-Mart cooperates with companies like "vgchartz". Just not in this universe.
3. It's true that Sony is getting more revenue per unit sold than Nintendo is. The trouble is, despite that higher revenue they're taking a loss, while Nintendo is taking a profit on their lower revenue. Look through the market coverage for different companies' quarterly results to see why posting large revenues can actually look WORSE than smaller revenues when you're also posting a loss. A loss on small revenues just says business is slowing down. A loss on huge revenues says your company is incompetent.
Everybody should be happy @ the sony camp. nobody buys the ps3, so sony doesn't lose money. So Sony should be happy with these resultsl :D
First of all, nobody knows what sony is really losing on the PS3s in production anymore. They are probably very close to even by now. All the breakdown costs were grossly overpriced, to come up with that $200 over figure. Reality is, they are getting the sales. They are bringing in the cash. People that buy something for that kind of money are going to buy a lot of games for it. People that buy the WII are going to buy a game or three and be sick of it.
As of the next quarter sony will be showing a profit again, and over the holiday season this year, everyone will notice that sony is back to making TONS of money, as usual.
Like I said in my original post, which most of the morons overlooked, sony has done this before. And won...
Sony isn't the only company that has done this before and won. NES and SNES were two consoles that triumphed competing consoles, and it's not because they Nintendo put better hardware into their system (for your information, they didn't). They came out on top because the games sold the system more effectively than Sega, for example, could sell its machine with superior specs. Microsoft, too, is no stranger to adversity. You don't become the most dominant computer software company in the world without forcing your way to the top. Sony is Sony. They're good at what they do. That doesn't mean, however, that they're going to win every console war. Let's watch this one develop. It's going to get interesting no matter what the outcome.
