Details and info for the PSP Version of Need for Speed ProStreet - Image 1

Need for Speed: ProStreet, the latest addition to the Need for Speed franchise, ripped its way into first place in the UK charts on its second week out. However, the PSP version is still in the garage, waiting for some more tweaks under the hood.

So what's in store for the game when it comes out? Making up for the lack of power the console versions have, Need for Speed: ProStreet for the PSP will be sporting exclusive content, including a new gameplay mode and a new feature for the Race Maps mode.

Gregg McGillivray, assistant producer for ProStreet PSP, talked about the new features in a recent interview. First of all, the handheld will be getting new features called Driver Personas and Driver Intuition.

Driver Persona acts like a difficulty setting for the game. The game will ask you whether you are an experienced racer (Speed King), a newcomer to racing games (Weekend Warrior), or if you've played other racing games before (Adrenaline Junkie).

Driver Intuition is basically an assist tool that helps you weave your way through the track by giving you hints on the map among other things. The amount of help you'll get from Driver Intuition depends on the Driver Persona you chose.

Need for Speed: ProStreet for the PSP will also be getting Speed Mode, giving you a variety of speed-related events. Race Maps mode will also be getting a new feature that allows players to check out the schematics of all the tracks they've raced in.

I love this game on PS2 and have been dying to play it on PSP as well. According to IGN, the PSP one will have damage modeling like the next-gen console versions. How they couldn't have done that in the PS2 version is beyond me, and annoys me as well.

I think it's funny how they're trying to pass of option settings of difficulty and assists as cool exclusive features by giving them fancy names. There was no mention of drift or drag mode in the IGN interview though, which would suck.

All in all, it should still be a sweet game, and hopefully it does come out next month as scheduled.

 » well..

I hope they change that gay camera look they've had on previous NFS games for PSP, know what I'm talking about, the constant behind-the-car view? I hope it changes to a view like on the console games.
