New GTA IV details and No San Andreas Stories for the PSP - Image 1A lot of people have been clamoring for more details on Grand Theft Auto IV. Fortunately, Official PlayStation Magazine Australia has released some more tidbits on the game and they are quite interesting.

For those who saw the demo, Niko (the main character of the game) passes an ATM machine and the option to access his bank account appears. Now, no official word has been given on this yet, but the initial impression is that it will be possible.

The GTA IV physics engine has been tweaked as well which should allow you to actually hear "vehicles passing by with their radio turned on." Hmm, not bad at all. Speaking of driving, the controls have been "tremendously" tweaked and enhanced. They also gave other details on the game which are listed below.

Here are some of the other details on the game from GTA4.net:

  • When selecting a contact on your mobile phone, a list of several commands are made available to the player, such as "meet me here," etc.
  • Playing the single player game through co-operative mode is not possible, however there will be a co-op mode in addition to all the other unknown multiplayer modes.
  • According to Dan Houser, VP of Creative for Rockstar Games, they haven't yet figured out if GTA IV is going to spark off another set of GTA games connected to it, and they're currently just focusing on this single game. He does say he "would have a certain confidence" setting GTA outside the United States, such as England, in the future.
Amidst all the good news, we have a little bit of bad news for fans of San Andreas Stories. Houser said that there are no plans for a PSP version of the game. So, while a lot PSP owners will probably still be waiting for a PSP release, it's unlikely that it will be coming anytime soon.

 » ...

if theyre gonna make a GTA:SAS either one of three things will have to happen:

(a). The game is heavily compressed and many features are removed so it can fit on a dual-layer UMD which is 1.8GB (GTA:SA is about 4GB).

(b). GTA:SAS is released on multiple UMDs which is impracticable.

(c). GTA:SAS is released on a new HD-UMD which would only be compatible with future new-gen PSPs (if there are any) that can read it which is very unlikely.

   Re: Cadabena (Unregistered) - 2007-05-13
 » perhaps...

Maybe, they could have two UMDs, but to stop annoying disc swapping (which would be available for people with not enough free MS space) give the option to dump the second UMD onto the memory stick?

   Re: mohaas05 (Unregistered) - 2007-05-13
 » great

not all ppl have 2gb memory stick and even less are willing to sacrifice 95% of that space for one game. Plus if its on the memory stick ppl will then just pirate it.

   Re: ahFX (Unregistered) - 2007-05-13
 » remember..

all the models etc can be compressed and textures less detailed for the smaller screen, saving space. they could also compress, translate code, whatever.

That's alright...the other two GTA games are more than enough to keep us busy for a long time...a third really isn't needed..

If gta was done in england it would be most certainly done in london. Although I think manchester or even stoke ;) would be great settings

   Re: PS3Rider (Unregistered) - 2007-05-12

Manchester would be good for a GTA game (BTW I live here). Manchester is full of culture and post victorian history, and also it is has palces in it such as moss side, salford, weaste ect. All those areas are gun culture areas, a few months ago there was a mass shooting in salford and moss side. Tis fun to live where I live :)

 » Love GTA But...

I am so sick of them repackaging the same engine, same gameplay, in a different enviroment with rather similar goals and calling it a new game. Sure, it offers more than a season to season update of Madden or NHL - but it's not worth the cash to me. I have the two 'stories' games on psp - that's enough. Give us a GTA IV rendition and I'll be happy.

I completley agree with you,
England rules! if you don't like then we'll just have to set it in the north pole.
(Wooh, my gay assed abc nipples are freezing off.)

   Re: gtauk - 2007-05-12
 » i agree with GW2

A-B-C why do you think there are too many gay people in England? is that why it can't be set in England because theres too many gay people?
i wouldn't mind england but wouldn't scream for it because it's not the gta style setting for the game, Enlgand really isn't violent like America or places like that so it wouldn't really suite it

   Re: LDN (Unregistered) - 2007-05-12
 » .

To the contrary my friend. Major cities in England have become plagued with violence and crime somewhere along the last decade. Cities like London are becoming increasing dangerous, with gangs of youths trying to take after people from across the pond. Though I'd guess that if they set it here, they should stick with the main character as a common thug. All this organised crime BS they tries to portray in GTA: London is dead now.

And when you say England is not suited to the GTA style, I think it does need a more refreshed outlook instead of the same cities and missions (hopefully GTA: IV will be the first stepping-stone in Rockstars revolution).

 » oh well

I'm not really disappointed in not having a new GTA for the PSP since I wasn't too impressed with the other ones plus they came out on the PS2 a little later anyway. I am looking forward to GTAIV since they are going to redo the engine, I was kinda getting tired of the "same thing different city" thing that they had going with the others. Also there was a GTA game that was set in London, granted it was a while ago before the 3D upgrade. It would be nice to have one set in another country how about GTA Canada.

 » GTA SET IN CANADA

Wouldn't that be sick? To have the next GTA set in Canada? Many people don't know we exist, like ignorant americans who cant spot the big country north of theirs. Not all americans, just ignorant ones.

I can see it now:

GTA Toronto
or
GTA Mississauga

GTA is also an acronym for Greater Toronto Area, so it's very fitting. You can unlock certain cities, start out in brampton.

C'mon make a GTA in Australia. How good will it be to run over kangaroos, race down our 2 lane freeways and kill some stupid asians that can't even speak English, why oh why does Australia let in people from other countries that can't even speak English. Then they go on the doll, and us Aussie workers are paying the imogrants for sitting on their ass. There are to many asians, they breed like rats and are going to take over the world with their over populating fetish. Bring back the White Australia Policy!!!

GTA = KICK ASS BTW!
