QJ.NET's Games for Windows News

Here at QJ.NET we're proud to be a hotspot and favorite internet haunt for so many gamers, that's why we're dedicated to providing you fine folks with the latest news and tidbits of interest around the clock. No matter what part of the world you hail from, no matter what sleeping disorders plague you, you can always count on us to be updating our front pages 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. But its always been pretty obvious that there's been a feather missing from our cap, a big rock that we've left unturned.

It's an exciting time in the world of gaming as we all sit on the next-gen precipice, waiting to be dazzled by the new technology and innovations being brought to us by our good friends at Sony and Nintendo, as well as watching the Xbox 360 mature into its own powerhouse of a system. But there's another platform out there that is even more advanced than any of these consoles could ever hope to be. The Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 can duke it out all they want in the graphics war, but real gamers know that if you want the best graphics, physics, controls, and online gameplay that gaming can offer you don't have to wait until the end of Novemeber to get it.

That's why we're thrilled to announce the opening of QJ.NET's "Games for Windows" news site! Don't be fooled by the fancy branding (thank you, Microsoft), we're talking about PC Gaming - and it's bound to be the winner in the next-gen wars. These new consoles may try to emulate a powerful PC, but popular genres such as first person shooters and real time strategy games were born on a PC - it's their natural environment and where they play the best. Nintendo may be pushing the envelope with their unique pointing device, but any self-respecting gamer has been playing with a pointer for over a decade - it's called a mouse, people!

PC Gaming has it all - the best graphics, the best interface devices, and a huge selection of titles and the best known franchises. So how could we ignore the platform that the next-gen consoles are trying so hard to catch up to? We can't, and neither should you. So head on over to the Games for Windows site and see what's brewing on the winning platform of the next-gen gaming wars!

PC is better in almost everyway I think a lot of people, inclusing myself got tired of the endless patches, drivers, Operating System issues (which in then lead to game issues) etc...

Consoles are just easier. Although Keyboard and Mouse is still the best for FPS and TPS

Tis true PC will advance beyond these consoles in every way soon enough but pc games also have great stories and gameplay to match the graphics ( aka : Fear / Half-Life series / Morrowind / Oblivion )

 » PC Gaming

I enjoy pc gaming very much when I get the chance. Usually though I have to admit that I come on the game sites more with my pc than gaming on it. I prefer consoles though do to the simplicity they bring and not having to worry about upgrades as much to make the latest game out play well. I look forward to the PC gaming blog!

1. and this has what to do with PSP?

2. is there any filter i can use so i dont have to see all these unrelated 'news'?

3. dont you editors see that you get less and less comments to your articles etc? no wonder, you put so much non PSP krapp in here, so people jump ship for other sites. and whoever decides over there that you should put in these annoying krapp articles that span all your sections; YOU ARE WRONG

4. does anyone know of a good psp site with PSP homebrew/game news ??

you're right! how dare they tell the PSP people about their new blog! If you play the PSP, you wouldn't dare play PC games.

grow up, its one post out of what, the 20 PSP posts you'll see today?

» Why I prefer PC games.

You can download great FREE freeware pc games all over the place..lots better than commercial titles too.

You can download mods for some of the best games: ie: NWNights, Half-Life, Morrowind, Oblivion etc etc. I've DL'ed 100's of them and some of them are better than the original game.

PC games tend to be a little more complex than their console counterparts. Originality and maturity in theme is also a bonus with PC gaming.

Wider choice of games throughout each genre.

Great choice of MMORPGS if the genre suits you..some of which are totally free to play.

To temper the advantages, PCs greatest disadvatage is the yearly hardware upgrade if you want to play the last titles.

 » PC games forever.

Always better than console FPSs and RTSs and multiplayer aspects in general.

   by Gobo (Unregistered) - 2006-10-30
 » less interesting for me

To be honest, I used to be a PC gaming fan. But a few years ago, when WinXP became dominant and Vista was pushed back again and again, I began to lose interest. The last slap happened, when there were announcements of the soon to be expected Vista launch and the restrictions regarding the next DirectX and other gaming related features. Not to mention all the other stripped or tuned down features that once where praised as the true eye opener. When thinking games on the PC, I more and more rely on Linux. Sounds funny, but the games there start to be running better and better, with fewer incompatibilities. Other than that, I rely on consoles for gaming.

» Err Did you guys check the name of this blog before stealing it.

"Games for Windows" is the new title for the Computer Gaming Monthly magazine(CGW) now (GFW). Did you guys just decided on a whim to steal there title for your blog??

Re: Jake D. (QJ. NET Staff) - 2006-10-30
 » Check again

I do love it when people get all accusatory without knowing what they're talking about. :)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Games_for_windows

"Games for Windows" is a classification started up by Microsoft, and they put that brand on any games compatible with Microsoft. So no, we didn't steal the name of this blog, it's the name of the platform. Just like Playstation 3 or Xbox 360.

 » yeh

pc games will not win because they are too much hassle. playstation pop in a disc and away on nice larger screen.

pc - put in disc, install it, get pissed off because it comes up with some error, search the web for a fix, finish installing, open game, setup gamepad one button at a time. play on tiny screen.

i play pc versions of ps2 and xbox games through my lcd tv because of the high resolutions but once the ps3 comes out who will need to, the ps3 has hd.
