The number-placement puzzle that has become a worldwide craze, is now gracing PSP screens with the new title Sudoku from Hudson Soft. Also known as Nampure, Sudoku is the Japanese abbreviation of the phrase, "Suuji wa dokushin ni kagiru" which can be losely translated as "the digits must remain single".

Sudoku is played over a 9x9 grid, which is divided into 3x3 sub-grids called "regions", and  your aim is to fill the empty cells with single digit numbers between 1 to 9. Players must bear in mind that this number must only appear once in a row, column and a region. Sudoku uses numbers and logic, but not mathematics which is why it has been such a popular game. Some studies even show that playing Sudoku can improve memory and mind clarity. There is still no information if there will be a US release, but we will keep our eyes peeled for you. In the meantime, here are the screenshots that we have promised.

» who would pay money for sudoku?

come on, there's a free sudoku game for psp and it's coded in effing lua! These guys are pretty cheap to try selling this, but i guess sony would be quick to license it. After all, they must have a better version of everything homebrew like tetris, sudoku, etc. Coming soon: Project64 1.7 for PSP! Why get a homebrew version of an inferior emulator when you can get this UMD for the low low price of $39.99? Runs all your favorite Nintendo classics at an amazing 30 frames per second! Features Dolby surround sound on your PSP! And we at Sony make all the money off of the ideas of vile filth like PSMonkey and StrmnNrmn! Update your firmware to the required 2.81 and get your copy now!

You're ignorant on many levels. So, do you expect them to make this game for free? Or not at all?

You don't have to buy it, but many that don't embrace homebrew (still the vast majority of owners) don't want the hassle of having to downgrade their firmwares, or using exploits to get little homebrew games.

If any criticism can be made it's that what serves as a minor mini-game in Brain Age is a full-fledged title for the PSP, but, much like that game, this is definitely going to a budget title.

Secondly, wtf? You think that they're copying the homebrew developers!? Jesus, get over yourself.

Homebrew is more often than not the very epitomy of plagiarism. Very few games are not direct ports of other emulators/games, and the few original titles mostly rip off other characters and games, usually so that their homebrew they've created isn't lost amongst the unenjoyable, boring homebrew that takes up well over half of all available.

Homebrew ready PSPs are a far better pieces of kit than the 2.81s and probably even the DS (I prefer mine), but please be less blindly ignorant of how the game companies work, and how easily homebrew is abused and can never truly be condoned by a company in Sony's position.

» Please don't comment on something you don't understand

clearly, you don't understand homebrew nor i think you know how to use it. if you rather pay sony 40 or 50 dollors for sudoku go right ahead. if you don't mind sony control you psp(you paid $250) by force you to upgrade firmware. then go right ahead. you are the one 'blindly ignorant'. unless you work for sony.

 » Oh...dear...God.

That post was even stupider than your last.

I'll just tell you to re-read what I said. Pay attention to the bits about Sudoku being a budget title and homebrew not being that user-friendly (especially when having to downgrade).

I can't point you to the bit where I said I'd buy it, because I didn't.

You know nothing about the economics of the game industry, so just boot up your 1.5 PSP and no doubt a few ISO loaders as you dislike paying Sony so much. Maybe sort out your grammar whilst you're at it.

 » Additionally...

I'll just add (seeing as it was supposed to be self-evident from my first post, but it obviously has gone over at least one person's head) that I own and use a homebrew PSP, along with a small number of the less worthless homebrew (read: emulators and PMPMod, not sudoku, I have Brain Age for that), and intend to until at least the PSOne support makes into the firmware.

Also add that you gotta be pretty ignorant of homebrew yourself (Devhook, in particular) if you think that even if I did buy Sudoku, I'd have to upgrade. Dumbass.

omg there was a bit of exaggeration in my post but look how sony is trying to make money off emulators like the psx emu, and it's all for the purpose to beat the crap out of homebrew. Also i don't see firmware 2.80 or 2.81 being devulated yet so who's calling who ignorant? I was saying that they're cheap-assed to make money off of a sudoku game and sony's ignorant to make all the new games require later firmwares for no reason other than that they don't want you on 1.5.
