UK to have black-only PSP Slim and no cables on launch day - Image 1We just got word about the upcoming PSP Slim/ Lite and it's not going to be pretty for our friends in UK. Before that though, there's another bit of info that you should know first: the new SKU will have two different cables for TV output, a composite and a component one.

The composite cable will allow PlayStation Portable owners to watch media content on their TV sets. However, do take note that you won't be able to play your favorite PSP video games with this. You will need a component cable for gaming purposes. The latter also lets users watch any media content though.

Anyway, the sad thing is that UK won't be getting official cables when PSP Slim and Lite hit its stores on September 14. This doesn't mean, for further clarification, that the cables won't be bundled with the console. This means that you won't be able to purchase any official cables in UK on launch date.

We also learned that the Ceramic White and Ice Silver versions of PSP Slim will not be available for UK fans yet. A spokesperson from retail chain GAME UK told online site Games Radar that a specific date has to be specified by Sony when the cables and the other SKUs will ship.

there is no physical reason why a composite cable can't output games.

Sony just getting people to buy the more expensive... dirty yanks

 » hahaha..........boo hoo

well its no surprise that the UK (and possibly the rest of europe.. it doesn't say but we are normally treated the same)

gets shafted again!!!!!

Well,i'm from Singapore and retail starting selling it since August 30th. Kinda curious why the UK and the European side keeps getting shafted.

Even though the cost is roughly the same it would have been nice to have the choice. Since many of us already own a PSP, why not at least throw us the Ice Silver version for variety? And if Sony is worried about the size of the market in the UK, maybe they should actually try marketing the bloody thing competently - ANYONE could do a better job than whichever useless bunch of unimaginative corporate clowns they've hired so far.

And if we can't get the cables then "upgrading" is even less attractive. Honestly, is Sony Europe staffed by complete morons?

In all my time I've owned a PSP, I've NEVER actually seen a commercial for one on TV! Yet we see Nintendo and Microsoft Ads all the time!

its useless to make 2 types of cables if 1 does everything. who cares how much it costs. wont be anymore than £20...?

 » unofficial cable

probably will be 1 dollar (or pound or euro or whatever) on ebay with the profit hidden in shipping costs but still probably under 20 dollars. I like my unofficial cables, like my usb to usb+power cable i have for my psp! if sony doesnt provide, ill buy third party :)

i also assume composite cables if not sold in uk for release wont be in australia for release. might be aleap, but most things that apply for europe apply to aus for some reason..

This looks like shlt,

A lot of people don't have a Component-connection on their TV. And for the people who does have a Component HD connection, won't like it because it's already in use (Xbox360) or so...

They can simply release 1 cable, with 6 Tulp-connections;

1: COmposite Video
2: Audio-Left
3: Audio-Right
4: Comp-Yp
5: Comp-Pr
6: Comp-Pb

ANd you only have to setup your desired connection in the XMB-Menu, Composite/Component...

Looks like shi-T for us, bro's...

 » Europe gets f*cked again

Thanks once again Sony for shafting the UK and Europe. Just for that, I hope everyone keeps downloading games from Bit Torrent and playing them on their hacked PSP's so as Sony gets no money out of us.

Hey, you're only reaping what you sew.....f*ckers.
