Pandora's Battery - Image 1

All for one, and one for all. A project promulgated under the collective Noobz - more officially branded as N00bz! - has given birth to another monumental development in homebrew: a PSP unbricker for every Sony PlayStation Portable. In short summary, it would perform the following:
  1. You run a program on a homebrew-enabled PSP that will convert a standard PSP battery into a jigkick battery. Note that you can't then use that battery normally - so you should use a spare one.
  2. You run a program to generate the unbricker memory stick image, built from the v1.5 update EBOOT (note that this, and the custom IPL, means the release is completely free of Sony copyright materials).
  3. You run some programs on a PC to install the image to your memory stick.
Earlier, Fanjita announced that Noobz and C+D developers would release an unbricker for bricked PSPs as a result of a "faulty decryption algorithm," but the C+D devs thought they could do even better. Chalking up another feat to the Prometheus project, C+D created an unbricker for all PSPs, even without accessing the official software or hardware. But in essence, the feat wouldn't have made successful waves if the the following victories hadn't made ripples to start with:
  • Reverse engineering of the service (unbrick) mode
  • Development of a technique to change an ordinary battery into a service mode trigger battery (and back)
  • Development of custom IPL code along with a technique to sign that code as authentic
Of course, similar to a few CFW releases before, the unbricker was leaked before it was officially released, and C+D has yet to tie down the reasons for the leak. What was important to mention, however, is that the unbricker is completely free, and some people have tried to gain profits from the leaked unbricker over several websites around the world. Yet again, the early release of the unbricker was necessary, even if it was originally planned to unravel at the release of the PSP Slim.

Noobz salutes the members of the Prometheus project, namely Adrahil, Booster, Cswindle, Dark_AleX , Ditlew, Fanjita, Joek2100, Jim, Mathieulh, Nem, Psp250, Skylark, and TyRaNiD - who should also be recognized in their Create and Destroy (C+D) identities as follows:
  • Mathieulh = WiseFellow
  • Tyranid = bockscar
  • Fanjita = FullerMonty
  • Joek = CosmicOverSoul
  • Dark_Alex = Malyot
  • Chris = Caretaker
  • Adrahil = VoidPointer
  • nem = h1ckeyph0rce
Just as Noobz warns, please take care to read the file's readme for the instructions. Failure to do so will cause degrees of risk to your PSP.

Thanks to demologik, EXTER, and MozyMan for the tip off!

Please read this, you will be excited. When you click this link, http://xrl.us/ezymoney you will go to a website that will show you how to sign up for another website that pays you 2 - 45$ (PER) to do surveys, sign up for trial offers, and test products.
Companies such as ebay pay CC to have people try their offers, and when you complete an offer, CC simply passes the money onto you. By spending an average of 3-4 hours a week on cascrate,
I have made 472$ in May, 412$ in June, and 271$ (SO FAR) in July. You get paid in real checks from "KNGSIDE MEDIA" every month that you earn 10 dollars or more. It may seem too good to be true,
but I assure you it IS true. Also, with their referral program, you can refer people by sending them your link (you get when you sign up) and for every buck they earn, you get 20 cents also! (Think how much money you can make if you have 100 people making five bucks a day)
You do not have to enter your credit card or social security number. Nothing Harmful can come from CC. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE 18 OR OLDER, I AM 15 YEARS OLD AND REFERRING PEOPLE, AND I MAKE THIS MUCH MONEY A MONTH
JUST SPENDING A COUPLE MINUTES A DAY ON THE COMPUTER! THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR READING THIS.
Think it's a scam? Read this(from the website) "We assure you that this is not a scam! Companies need consumers to try and review products, services, and websites and are willing to pay money to have them do so.
Most of the time you're asked to do this without any compensation, what we do is take the money companies give us for YOUR participation, and give you back up to 75% of it!"
There are alot of websites like this, I have tried almost all of them and this really is the best, and legit one.In addition there is a new UK section opened with more then $200 worth of free offers!

U CAN DOWNGRADE ANY PSP FW VER. USING THIS METHOD!

   Re: mohaas05 (Unregistered) - 2007-08-22
 » ...

actually redmetal if you run the applications on a custom firmware PSP you can use the MS and the jigkick battery on a different psp. so all psps are downgradeable...for now. Although it'll be fun to see how sony's gonna counter this one since it doesn't modify the firmware. They'd either have to release a modified battery to stop this or the more logical solution would be to encrypt the ipl in a different way.

This is probably one of the most important days in PSP hacking history. Never again will we have to worry about bricking. Great Job Noobz and Team C+D. You guys should be very proud of yourselves.

   Re: YAY (Unregistered) - 2007-08-23

Homebrew scene will come back alive...It will almost double i bet...due to the amount of unbrickers

xD

wow, no need for lumines UMD? or GTA? is this an ALL IN 1 DOWNGRDER? UNBRICKER?

THAT MEANS... WOW, cant blieve its TRUE,

SONY - PAWNED AGAIN!!!

No, I think that this would ruin a non-homebrew compatible ta-082/086 PSP, since they can't run 1.5 without a key patch, which you can't run without homebrew.
They need to make another version that goes to 2.71 for it to be a universal downgrader.

   Re: Fanjita - 2007-08-23
 » Wrong

Snarg, uninformed as ever....

The TA082 patch is taken care of. Read the readme, this is for all known hardware.

   Re: ME (Unregistered) - 2007-08-23
 » @snarg

im not saying your wrong by any means
but its the 1.50IPL that bricks TA-082,086 mobos
but this is a custom IPL so it may work
but chances are slim i admit

Fanjita - Notice how I said, "I think" not "I know"
It was a guess, and that statement in the readme was NOT 100% clear as what you said here was. Thank you for the clarification, and I'm sorry that you are one of the many people that have been offended by my other factual comments, but the facts are the facts, and being condescending won't change them, it will just show how little of a person you are. I thought you where better than that. Guess I was wrong.
However I can admit when I make a faulty assumption, and that IS the case here.

ME -
See, that's how you respond to an assumption, with proper addition to the thought, and intelligence, nice.
But it appears that it actually will work.

This is a gift from the Gods! Now you can downgrade a 3.52 PSP and unbrick one! As long as Prometheus (Team Create and Destroy) don't release the source code, theortically, this can be used on the Slim!

 » what ?

So do you really have to sacrifice a battery and a memory stick forever??.. also, what do they mean by this?? "The firmware in the Memory Stick is not a full 1.50, but a minimal
subset. Therefore, not all applications (such as flashers, or
recovery apps) will load." Can I upgrade to 3.52 M33?

   Re: Mii (Unregistered) - 2007-08-22
 » Well

You can get the battery back to normal. I posted something about this and I'll get back to you if I get an answer.

   Re: mohaas05 (Unregistered) - 2007-08-22
 » ...

its like a safe mode version of 1.5. It's enough to at least repair your firmware or downgrade. It probably supports the same apps that the launch recovery app in custom firmware recovery menus do.

 » That's what I get.

I spent $100 to get another friggin PSP on ebay. This is what I get for being an impatient ass.

I guess now would be a good time to scoop up all of the cheap bricked PSP's on ebay.

I think ppl on ebay will unbrick them and sell them like crazy

I am on the step that says: Use mspformat to format the Memory Stick logically." I run it and all that comes up is a black box that lasts maybe .10 milliseconds before it closes itself. I am running Windows XP, am I doing something wrong? Please help anyone?

 » Credit

Once again QJ is the last to report major news in the Psp scene. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and sent them a news tip this time as soon as I heard about this. They did not give any credit so in future I will not send any news tips. Others have already learnt. Even unknown sites had this news before QJ. Don't bother crediting your tipsters because eventually the only news you will get are about Test30 Custom firmware 1.5 LE LE OE.

Kindly ignore that, I'm a whiny ***** who seems to think he deserves credit for being one of the 50,000 users to submit this tip. My ass hurts from being gay.

   Re: DumStrung (Unregistered) - 2007-08-31
 » cmd.exe

open DOS command window (cmd.exe) and exemple extract the folder mspformat in the drive F and type F: enter, after you type cd mspformat and then enter. after that you type mspformat PSP driveletter exemple H.
