Square Enix US office - Image 1Remember how Square Enix spoke about the "great opportunities in North American markets" when they announced that they would be publishing Supreme Commander 2? Well, it seem that was just a foreshadowing of their next move: A US-based Square Enix Studio.

The studio will be located in El Segundo, Los Angeles and right off the bat, will be working on a title based on an original IP. There are already two other Square Enix offices in the US used primarily for localization and marketing.

Square Enix is currently looking for people to staff their US branch and have posted several job listings including ones for software engineers with Xbox and Wii-specific development experience.

I realize that Squeenix has been moving toward multiplatform titles lately but I see no postings for a PlayStation dev team. Is this because they have all the developers they need for the PlayStation already or is this a sign of a deepening rift between Sony and Squeenix? Certainly, they've been quite vocal in the past of their criticism toward Sony console and have had nothing but praise for the Microsoft's 360 so far.
