» Lithium-polymer batteries...
Most of those so called high capacity batteries made by the third party manufacturers are lithium polymer batteries, as opposed to the lithium-ion batteries made by sony.
The polymer batteries are extrememly touchy. Charge them too much, they burn. Run them down too far, and they burn, or loose capacity. I've used them in my R/C aircraft, and have had one overcharge. When they do set themselves on fire, it's a really impressive flame, let me tell you, lol... But the first time I saw those in Best Buy for the PSP, I was shocked. I can only imagine what they will do if they light up in your house while charging and burn down the house.

I've been using the 2600 mah max II power battery from divneo's website.. no problems with my psp.. the battery lasts much longer than the sony.. same results for my friend too (both ordered at the same time)
4+ hours of psx gameplay and I have yet to keep track of just music usage since I play games during the day..

Got the same thing at the same place for the same price as the person above. and I like the battery a lot. it definately lasts longer than the 1800mah sony one. and about the battery pic that they show, that could be from the sony battery. sony's the one who was in trouble a year or so a go for making exploding batteries. alot of people say don't use 3rd party batteries but I kinda don't trust sony's one either and there ones cost $50 which is ridiculous.

I have the 2600 mAh one... After recharge it shows the time 11:11 remaining and goes really fast down... it last only 5 hours (watching movies at 120 MHz) and turns off... But it doesnt turns off at 0 % but cca at 25 %... But I use it because I use it very much and recharge it once or twice a day :-)

And when the PSP is fully charged (and running), it will stop charging the battery. And, I've been used this battery for the past 6 months.
I lost my real Sony PSP battery (in a foreign country), so I'm kinda stuck with this one anyway.

i am using the datel max x2 now for 6 to 8 months no problem, lasts twice as long very effective, only downside is no magicgate, so if you have FW 3.00 of higher and you want to play popstation games, then you can forghet it.....it just doesnt load......everyting else works none the less.....

Of third-party PSP batteries

Melted PSP - Image 1We came across this Korean PSP fansite, Ruliweb, which has conducted a few interesting tests on third-party PSP batteries with some not so good results.
According to the rough web translation of the site, the guys from Ruliweb tested three different third-party batteries: one at 2200mAh and two others at 2600mAh. The official Sony batteries come in 1800mAh and 200mAh packs.
Apparently, the testers discovered that all of the third-party batteries underperformed, giving out less juice than they were advertised for. "The 2200mAh battery actually produced 2000mAh of power," posted PSP-Vault, "while the two 2600mAh batteries only produced roughly 1550mAh of power."
Now, here's the most interesting thing. Ruliweb's test results page shows an image of a melted PSP. It seems that they managed to destroy a PSP during the tests. It seems they're really serious in peering into the dependability and safety of these third-party PSP batteries, let's all hope they yield good results.

just goes to show that you should only trust first party, and reliable sources for things like that...

Most of those so called high capacity batteries made by the third party manufacturers are lithium polymer batteries, as opposed to the lithium-ion batteries made by sony.
The polymer batteries are extrememly touchy. Charge them too much, they burn. Run them down too far, an
