Playstation Network Operations Director Eric Lempel dropped by the official PlayStation Blog and informed all PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable owners that new firmware updates are coming their way. A part of Lempel's post read: Taking into account customer feedback and some internal testing, we will be making available in the next few days a firmware update for the PS3 (1.93) that fixes the network disconnect issue that some of you have experienced as a result of downloading Firmware 1.92. In addition, we are adding a new firmware update for PSP (3.71) as well, which adds many features that readers of this blog have requested. |

wasn't 3.70 JUST announced? I wonder what they changed in that short time span?
Exactly! Sony has gone mad once again first 3.60>3.70> now 3.71 all within a couple of days.
yeah first they're gone mad bcoz of rush release of 3.71OFW bcoz of many request they are now aggresive on psp-1000, yeah if they fail on fat psp they still have new psp slim ^^ but there is more behind this. the feature of 3.70 and 3.71 OFW about the themes, when the 3.70 or 3.71 comes on custom FW the changing of themes will also implimented so there is no risk of semi-brick or brick ^^
i smell security! watch out ppl dont update til som1 confirms its safe!
3.70 wasn't actually announced by Sony and they never put the update on their site. The update was from Japan's i bielve
i heard somewhere that you can now view animated gif images, is that true?
It's not.
damn it, that would be pretty cool
it works since FW 2.00, but you have to view it through the web browser. You can't zoom and take it as background, obviously.
The update fixes the Network Update feature. Sony broke it... somehow. You get error 20000006 on the PSP if you try to use network update on 3.70.
Thats probably a good thing though..
Who uses network update on the PSP?
They need a M33 custom firmware network update!
Quoted from http://www.playstation.co.nz/support/psp/faqs/systemupdate370.jhtml at the bottom notes:
Do not perform updates using any data other than the official update data provided by Sony Computer Entertainment over a network or on disc media, and do not perform updates by methods other than those described in the product documentation or in this site. If an update is performed using data from another source, by another method, or with a PSP system that has been altered or modified in any way, the PSP system may not operate properly and may not be able to install the official update data. Any of these actions may void the PSP system warranty and affect your ability to obtain warranty services and repair services from Sony Computer Entertainment.
/ .. Funny.. if you install this update from any other source that Sony, you may void the PSP system warranty.. LOL
CFW FTW! :D
can't wait to see this m33'ed. btw, what do they mean by custom theme? I'm doubting anything like the themes we've seen in the forum. please someone help me with that
You can just change the icons, not any menu sounds or stuff, at least now - so who would want to use this...
well, some noobs may like it, i personally don't like it, but...
At least they are using Custom Themes now! At this is completely safe since it doesn't require to mod the flash0, thus meaning everything works like normal (Some themes cause errors) and at least you can use them on any FW above it without problems, AND it's free, not like Sony are charging you for them, Plus In given time, these will be hacked so they can load the custom custom ones this way too, and I don't use themes, just the original PSP August Theme does me.
so sony finally catches up to what homebrew did 1.5 yrs ago...
lolz
Well that update is now LIVE. so it can be downloaded from the network.
"A correction has been made to the settings for some regions."
WOW! Sony knows exactly what I want!
