On Shelves This Week - Image 1

BioShock on the Xbox 360 - Image 1We're hoping you guys saved up enough money for this week's releases. There's quite a lot of eye-catchers hitting the shelves and every single major platform out there - PS3, 360, Wii, PC, PSP, and DS - has at least one good title to offer.

Those who were able to try out the demo of BioShock can finally dive into the full game. Don't forget to take your daily dose of plasmids when you're there. Meanwhile, GRAW 2 will roll out for the PS3 and PSP as well. Tactical shooting has never been this orgasmic.

Handheld gamers get a heavy dose of RPG treatment with the release of Jeanne d'Arc and Dragoneer's Aria for the PSP. Whether you want to go for turn-based or SRPG, we'd still suggest you get both. DS owners get some bite-sized fun with more Brain Age 2 training and Turn It Around - another "mini-game collection" title that'll surely get heads spinning.

Let's get ready for the plunge! On Shelves This Week include...

BioShock. Take a dive into the not-so-dead underwater city of Rapture as you FPS your way through the horror of Big Daddies and Little Sisters. Hone your skill on controlling the destructive powers of the plasmids to fight for your survival.

 » Bioshock FTW

Bioshock (9.9 out of 10) and Two Worlds(MMORPG) are going to be amazing! Sadly, the only thing coming out for the ps3 is another old xbox360 game that PC and 360 players have already moved on from. Looks like this week will just add another layer of dust onto my ps3, while adding even more achievements to my gamerscore.

I can wait to get my hands on Bioshock, the reviews are insane! Heres a list:

OXM UK - 10/10
Alternative Press - 5/5
Game Informer - 10/10
Gamer.tv - 5/5
Playboy - 4/4 Bunnies
GamesRadar - 10/10
PC Gamer UK - 9.5/10
Xbox World - 9.4/10
Eurogamer - 10/10
PC Zone - 96%
Gamers - 98%
GameArena - 5/5
GameSpy - 5/5
Console Game World - 99%
1up - 10/10
Metacritic - 100%
IGN - 9.7/10
TeamXbox - 9.5/10
X-360 - 10/10

I would have provided links, but this site doesnt allow for HTML.

 » Bioshock is waayyy overrated

I've downloaded it and it had my attention for 10 minutes and went back to playing Gears of war and Halo2 on Third replacement 360!

...oh yeah and motorstorm and Ninja Gaiden on my PS3....

AoxomamoxoA is pissed cause he hasn't been laid before so he takes out his agressions in other ways...

   Re: chaosnstride (Unregistered) - 2007-08-20
» Whooo, ANOTHER FPS for the 360.

Half of those 'reviews' are junk, c'mon Playboy as a reviewer? IGNs 9.7 is for the PC btw. And giving a 10 on any game is pretty much just stupid. You're basically calling it a perfect game, amazing plot and ending, with no glitching, no bugs, perfect controls, great replay value, etc. Over-rated. I simply dont like the style in this game, too ugly. But to each their own..

Re: Real Gambler (Unregistered) - 2007-08-20
 » Cheaper on PC!

Wow, I still don't understand why those games are much cheaper on PCs, but since my PC is connected to the same HDTV my console is, I'll save a few bucks and buy the PC version... Likely better with the keyboard and mouse (blutooth) anyway no?

   Re: AoxomamoxoA - 2007-08-20
 » @real gambler

My theory is that PC games are cheaper because you spend more money updating your specs. A console user doesn't have to worry about specs since all consoles are the same, thus why they charge us a bit more. I think they're fairly priced for each specific user. Its just a theory though, there may be a legit reason out there.

Bioshock definitely isn't over rated. It's an amazing game and deserves all the praise it gets. It's not for everyone but almost everyone will like it. You just can't please everyone.

Why is it...that you claim to be such a hardcore Xbox 360 fan, yet you have enough free time to collect over 20 reviews for one game and are constantly posting on this site?

Go PLAY your goddamn console if you enjoy it so much, and leave the rest of us alone

I hope Gino D responds to you with his ban hammer!!

   Re: Aryn (Unregistered) - 2007-08-20
 » I disagree...

I would rather see a list and brief descriptions for games that have become available once in awhile than see several articles detailing how many new screen shots are available for the same game that has already been discussed in articles here for a few weeks straight. Seriously, i do not care if there is another trailer for Dead Head Fred or another few dozen screen shots for Crisis Core.

 » cheaper pc games

pc games are cheaper cause there are no licening fees
devs need to pay sony ms nintendo somthing like 10 dollars for every copy that is sold so that is why pc games are cheaper

Re: real gambler (Unregistered) - 2007-08-20
» Ouch, worst part about this is that it make sense!

Thank you, was very curious, but I think you nailed it... On the other side, it's still much harder to develop a PC game than a console game. With a console, you have the same hardware, same specifications, and so on. With a PC, you have to support all kind of resolutions (PC game have higher resolution in fact), different hardware, (sound, video particularly) and drivers from out of space. So cost for cost I would assume that PC games cost more to develop, so I guess if you're right, it's likely more than $10 that go in the console maker pockets...

Now I'm also wondering if Nintendo would not be charging more than the other two??? After all, before the Wii, they did had large install base (Nin64) and yet there only a small third party percentage...

Interesting...

Now that you can easily connect a PC to any HDTV, and easily get them to drive 1920X1080, I'm starting to wonder if buying any console is as good as it used to be...

   Re: jayhawker09 (Unregistered) - 2007-08-21
 » of course it is!

X360 + 400 dollars
PC equivalent of 360 + 2000 dollars+

Is it really worth saving 10 dollars a game?
   by well (Unregistered) - 2007-08-20
 » well

TO real gambler. I actually feel the opposite. I use to think having a pc was much better than having a console. I remember playing games in such high res on my souped up pc compared to shiet graphics on Xbox and PS2. Now a days however its become so hard to even distinguish graphics from 360/PS3/ and a decent PC (now, i'm not talking about a 5 thousand dollar Mega gaming pc, i'm talking about a straight up $1,500 Pc) that its almost not worth the extra cash. I have an all in one dell at home that i've been running for about 3 years that works fine but I can not play any games on it. I did buy it for 200$. I dunno, I guess if i was into the whole MMORPG craze i'd go spend 5,000 on a PC. but now a days.. i think paying the extra 10$ per game is better than spending thousands of dollars extra on a really nice PC. (BTW, screw buying games.. i usually rent them through Gamefly and buy the ones i know i'm going to like.. such as bioshock, Metoid 3 and smash bros).

 » Install woes

Just in case nobody knows about this, this thread details the woes of quite a few people who don't like or outright HATE the 2-computer install limit on the retail version of the PC version of Bioshock. Read this thread, it's quite a sight.
