awesome! casa bonita!
magiK has released his own mod to PMP (PSP Media Player), which plays a variety of video formats for the PSP including XviD and DivX. Originally ported by JiniCho, with the reigns taken by jonny, the community has definitely pitched in to released their own mods to the very popular media player.

With mods from Optixx, miemt11, plus others, magiK has compiled them all and added his own features. To get a video to play, you must first convert your video to a .PMP formatted file. This mod from magiK includes the compiled modifications of a better GUI with skinning support, position memory (which is also shown in the GUI), better length calculation in the GUI, nice OSD while playing, and most notably: brightness control!

First Comment PPL

i see not much point in this after all you can just convert your avi movies to mp4 using a psp converter.

But the quality in pmp player is better.
The link to the mod is broken!!

 » THE POINT IS....

the points is you can play back videos at PSP's MAX resolution, while PSP's default .mp4 videos are restricted at a much lower resolution.

also for us who are familiar with video encoding apps like VDub, .PMP is the preferred way to go.

 » This is really good

this pmp mod is just like the new 2.0 one exept it has several good features such as telling you the resolution of the video your about to play as well as the file size. you can also raise the volume drastically and pause the movie. This is johnies 2.0 pmp mod exept for additional features. really nice.

What i want to know is how you take pmp mod such as this and replace the old pmp mod thats built into the new oss shell.

 » PSPPLAYER!!!

Why is no one talking about this player it plays WITHOUT having to re-encode videos. I'd love to see this get developed, or at least mod PMP to play vids in their native format.

 » because

In terms of performance PMP v2 whips PSPlayer's butt. That's why.

by Anonymous Coward (Unregistered) - 2006-04-15
» PMP performance may by be better but...

It doesn't work for 2.01+ users.

Being able to play divx and xvid files is a big plus, so until there is a more friendly version for people with non-homebrew friendly firmware, PSPlayerMT is still preferred.

 » AWESOME!!!

THE best video player for FW1.5!!!

use the PMP 2.0 remuxer to convert your "older" PMP files to work with this version.

» Wish it was like the Mediaplayer for the Xbox ...

Without disheartening the Homebrewers ...

If it states it can play DivX & XviD then it should do this WITHOUT any conversion as it would be a watse of time ...

I would love to see a mediaplayer exactly like the one for the Xbox ... Xbox Media Player ... now that is one hell of a Homebrew App ... that can play practically any format ... but the DivX & XviD id the biz ...

cheers,

Gem

:o)

 » @22 - here is some knowledge

It does play divx and xvid encoded videos.PMP is just the container format that syncs audio with the video and that process hardly takes any time at all to convert unless you are running a poverty-puter.

However it does take time to convert (resize and re-encode audio) of existing videos if they are not at the best 480 x 272 PSP resolution. (that takes time). This is what most of us have to do for downloaded videos or dvd rips. You have to do that anyway to get the best results and to keep the file size down for your PSP regardless of the PMP container.

What's the latest and best version of PMP Mod. I got the one http://pspupdates.qj.net/PMP-Mod-Muxer-v2-00-released-/pg/49/aid/13903 thinking it was the best one but it seems to have lost features compared to "PMPMOD_1_02_M4g3"... help

 » PMP MOD Rocks!

For those that think otherwise...you have never tried it. Superior video on your PSP without having to buy stupid UMD movies.
