1) If you have another VLC version installed, first uninstall it and make sure to delete preferences and cache (delete directory c:Documents and Settings"yournamehere"Application Datavlc). |

just kidding!
good job jockywoo2001
as this is realtime transcoding, what are the specs required to run this successfuly?
Lets ***** to celebrate this!
Most of the time VLC player wont play the most basic file (unable to open file is the error)and when it does the PSP side of things give me the "AVC error sceMpegAvcDecode failed"
Got the last one to work OK?
Anyone else in the same boat!
does this work with a 2.00+ psp firmware?
This looks like a great app but someone needs to make a version for Macs because I can't use it. : (
I'm sure it's good work and all that, but really, where's the need?
I'd just like some users to post how they genuinely use homebrew like this, other than for bragging rights or "because you can".
Streaming withing range of your home network? Well usually that means I'm at home, and there's any number of machines/TVs with better screens to watch it on, and for less hassle. I guess I could go into the garden, but only at night, because it's almost impossible to see anything in the day.
I'd like users to post why they actually use this homebrew. Make reasons up if you don't, but I'm just curious as to a real-world application of it.
(I'm not criticising the author's work, not at all, just struggling to think of a situation in which this is better than a simpler alternative)
1. Watch TV in the bath
2. When I go to bed with my wife I can watch anything I
downloaded that day without disturbing her.
3. I can keep the kids quiet just by sticking a film on it. the novelty still has not worn off.. And I get to watch the 48in plasma..
4. Porn, great for a quick wack off in the bath room. ;)
5. You can watch your film selection wherever you are in the world as long as there is a wifi spot!..
This is a great program but Not as good as pimpstreamer yet.
yo loi,
this ain't just for gankin around in your damn bathrobe. not only can you play divx off your memory stick, you can have full access to your media from home from any wifi point. plane's trains airports cafes any damn wifi hotspot. how can this possibly not be incredibly cool for you or anyone. i can have my psp with 3000 hours of movies and t.v. and music all in my damn pocket. it is good

mutigen, I think i coverd that one in number 5!
Of course there is a mac version Eric. VLC even has pocketpc versions.
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html
how do u have it set up so u can watch from any hotspot?
I have a PC on both floors of my house and an Xbox with XBMC - I still use this (actually I use PiMPStreamer) because it's more convenient than kicking my kids off the TV. Besides, I don't like watch stuff on my PCs because I like sitting on a couch.
wait so can i stream untrascoded files live? like a .mov or somthing?
This app keeps on getting better and better.
I can never get this app to work correctly. The only thing I was able to do with last version was streaming. Everytime I pick a video to play I get loading and then AVC decoding error or something like this.
"5) Edit pmp.ini and copy it to /PSP/GAME/PMPVLC009_JockyW"

All i could find is pmp_server.py in the pmp server folder
Can someone help me pleasee!! Thanx in advance

#11, this is taken from the Installation section of the README:
"2) install the supplied VLC 0.8.5 on your PC. The file is called vlc-0.8.5-psp-x264-win32.exe in the VLC directory of the distribution. Sorry this is for windows only. Someone has to (cross-)compile versions for Mac and Linux. Maybe if I have time I will do it myself."
I know there is VLC for Mac, I've got it on my Mac right now. But you need this VLC file in order to use the PMP version. Hopefully someone will make a Mac/Linux version soon.
inside this folder you can finf the pmp.ini file whitch has to be modifyed as it says on the read me

Simply crash when selecting video or music...
I like to lay in my bed and watch my anime. I don't have any high definition screens except for my computer screen. Laying in bed is much more comfortable than sitting in my computer chair. The psp screen is so bright and clear, the subtites are very readable and video looks fantastic. I love streaming video!
Why not relase a how to with pictures most of this application
are very confusing to get it to work properly not everyone had the entire day to figure out how it works most homebrew developers don't take the time to do this they assume that most people are as smart as they are but if you want your work to be appreciated from a larger audience I believe that should be the way to go
nevertheless without all the great developers the PSP would now be the way it is now
I agree with woft man, this app sorely needs a step by step picture based guide and a troubleshooter. I've been using Pimpstreamer with no problems for a while, but when using anything that involves VLC, it never seems to work no matter what I try. This seems like a great app and more people need to be able to use it to really appreciate what it can do.
also, clean up that pmp.ini file its a mess, yes it works... but it's sooo clustered!! break it down line by line and number it or something so n00bs and elite h0ckrz all are on equal footing.
i recommended to use vlc as a streamer without transcoding when pmpstreamer was in its infancy, but i see alot of potential here...
avc is very nice codec, and avc on psp is amazing battery life is extended so much (haven't gotten it to work just yet, but basing off of experience with pmp avc mod) and the quality is smoking.
i hope the next few releases fix these short comings.
Saves me finishing up on eTV, which I sadly haven't had the time to finish up for public release. This also seems like a much more potent product.

Anyone else figure out how to fix the program crashing issue? It doesn't seem to matter what the ini file is set for and I have a file in both the /PSP/MUSIC and /PSP/VIDEO directories...
Can't even get it to work without a network connection to VLC, and it's been fine with the previous version.
can this play RM files?
After a day of fidling about the app attempts to stream but then gives a message of "file format not recognised". Some details on the settings for vlc would be cool. Streaming is the only part of the app that appeals as the rest of the functionality already exists. Anyone else had this message and found a way to fix it? I also get the PSP end locking up. Looks good work but a splat at the bugs would be much appreciated. The forum thread seems to have a lot of requests for help but not many answers.
