Having your Sony PlayStation Portable (or any other gadget, for that matter) stolen can be quite the shocker, but with Sony PSP homebrew developer TRSTealthX's latest project, PSAFE, you can at least do something about it when it actually happens. And in this lighting-quick update of this nifty little program, we get improvements across the board, as well as making it just a bit more invisible.

Here's the changelog for version 2 of PSAFE:
  • Hidden setup files
  • e-Mail fixes
  • 20+ needed bug fixes
Not a very long changelog, but definitely a much-needed one. For the uninitiated, PSAFE for your PSP is an anti-theft program that lets your handheld become self-aware of whether or not it's connected to your computer, and keeps track of every activity on it. So on the off-chance that it does get stolen, it will send you an e-mail along with the thief's IP address and other details.

Bit of a warning here from TRSTealthX. Users are reminded not to accidentally install this updated version twice, as it will create errors. So, presence of mind, be sure to just install it once.

I really love PSafe so far, tho I would like to be able to see a log of all of the IP addresses my PSP has connected to online.

I feel this app would be well ported to a VSH .PRX plugin. (An Invisible one with an in-obvious .PRX name.

The current form of PSafe is also great tho and should be also highly supported.

just how often do you people get your psps stolen? and how many people actually get their psps back?

innovative idea but...

what if the thief doesn't have internet connection to their computer?
what if the thief connects the said psp to another persons computer?
if you use your psp in places other than on your computer(library,school,friend's house, etc.) where you might connect your psp; will you get lots of annoying emails?
would the thief using the psp on a computer using a proxy cause problems?

i got more questions, but its just cause i never hear anyone i know with a psp talking about their psp getting stolen.(just sounds uncommon, if id steal anything it would be a ds lite cause its small and not as pricey... might get away with that easier...)
