TeamXtender has given us a video of the install process for the PSP2TV hardware mod they created. It is actually quite entertaining to see the intricacies of the insides of the PSP, and how the product seamlessly installs to your unit. I?ve watched it about 3 times now, good job guys! For those of you who don?t know what PSP2TV is, it?s revolutionary PSP to TV adapter(docking station) device. Now it is possible to connect your PSP to your TV by using the PSP2TV. PSP2TV will take your PSP games and movies and make it a large screen experience. Additional Features - Supports Sony PlayStation 2 Dual Shock Controllers You can get the install video in our PSP Download section [here], or [here]. |

hahahahahahahaha!
Looks like the Chinese win this round, after all! Man I was so certain that the pyramid of mirrors was going to get crushed by team xtender. Instead, I get a 15 minute long video of crazy russian polka music and a dude totally eviscerating a psp. I bet those taiwanese guys are snorting bubble tea up their noses from laughing so hard at this POS.
Did you see when he PEELED off the sticky film for the controller contacts?!?!? how many times could you change faceplates before your psp was totally bolloxed?
Unfortunatly it's probably copyright issues keeping them from showing video of a game in action. I too lost a lot of interest in this after I finally got the video to download. To those who say it's not too bad, maybe that's true for someone who knows about electronics and circuits and what have you, but many if not most of us have little to no experience with stuff like that.
The controller contacts are held down by a nifty little product called 'double-sided tape'. You can buy it a Wal-Mart, and replace the sticky part as often as you like. You don't have to remove this to swap out the PSP2TV faceplate, only if you are going to go back to the original faceplate. Anyone serious about using this product, or getting the best possible TV output from the PSP, will be installing this permanently, so it doesn't really matter.
Yeah, it won't fit an almost any case any more, you just have to decide how important that is to you.
What I wish they would is record the OUTPUT of the device to a computer (both devices- PSP2TV and mirror pyramid). That way we can really see how good/bad they both look. I don't need to see the results of a camcorder pointed at a TV...
ughhh... horrible.
Firstly, I'd never want to play psp lowres games on a big tv.. I'd rather buy a PS2 to get better res, graphics and 100x more games.
What a magnificent horror show. Most people aren't going to risk taking out the battery much less start taking out the screen. Great video though. I was expecting the guy in the video ro fire up a PSP game on a television at the end but it was still quite entertaining. Kudos on the musical choice.
I was going to get this and nearly pre-ordered, so glad i didn't as i'm not going to take apart my psp like that to install an ugly faceplate to it. Basically this has to be a permanent fixture to your psp, it won't fit in a case anymore with this plate on :( the video was a great idea as it has saved me some money.
about those guys ****ing about: hoooweeee the low res image is gonne look ****ed up on such a BIG tv screen....
indeed, physicaly seen, the tv screen is like 10times as big as a psp, even much more...
But a tvscreen has a resolution around 700*500 or something, where a psp has a native resolution of 480*272
the image doesn't even have to be resized for 200%
but i'm so not gonne buy this product :s afther seeing the movie, it scares the sh*t out of me + i would love to keep the look of my psp as it is, maybe if i'd ever win one in a contest i might open up that psp, but i will NEVER open up my original psp, and i'm not gonne pay 350$ to get a pspontv (price of psp + price of psp2tv)
My only concern is it not fitting in my beloved PGP anymore.
F dat.
replacing the flex, so cleaver, that's really great. I want my PSP to be portable but with that TV output it's going to be better !
I get one of these after vacation in the south ;)
I am feeling the same way. I just searched the net for psp 2 tv and found www.pspontv.com
NOW THAT is a product I can install and live with. I timed the video they had for installation and it was only about 15 seconds to install the item (no need to open your PSP)
And from what I've read on the Team Xtender version, the video and sound are messed, so I don't think I will risk my PSP just to have it display on the TV with sh*te video and audio.
The PSP On TV seems to me the better buy, cheaper, and just a clip on install.
Screw this if you need to do that much extensive removal to the psp. Only reason I would get this is if I get a new psp or get the new version of psp (who knows when sony will release it). Heck I might as well wait for sony to make one themselfs i'm sure sony will eventually do it. Just look at their own version of pspvideo9..... kinda makes you think that sony will want some $$$ of the market since they will know that consumers want psp2tv action.
Besides that I would only buy this if you f**cking know what your doing. Cause yeah that was the scariest video I have ever seen. I mean thats just like you mess up one part and you got yourself a nice brick. Not only that if you messup big time you will lose the function of the tv adaptor part. So then you will have a nice brick and a small brick that you can plug your controller in.
I'm no stranger to opening expensive electronics, but the PSP scares me.
I hate those damn delicate flat cables with the snap off connectors. And the PSP's full of them.
I'll try this thing next year while I'm still relaxed from my Christmas vacation.
An open dare to TeamXtender:
Show this thing in action!
Considering that you are asking us to rip apart our beloved unit and make it half black/half blue/unable to fit in my Playgear, the least you could do is give me a reason to think that this actually works.
Show the PSP and TV screens simultaneously and have someone run the camcorder who knows how to film. Show menus, games, etc. so that we know it's legit.
Enough with this BS about the product and packaging. Show it working.
this stuff is tight as fuq man! i wanna be me one, buy a used psp to test it on
Yah if I were to get one of these I would first buy a dirt cheap used psp at a pawn shop. Doesn't matter what condition the screen is in since it just directly feeds the video from the system itself.
Uh, guys? Just buy a shattered-screen PSP off of eBay. It's not like the PSP's screen is actually going to be used if it's hooked up to a TV anyway. That way if you mess up, you only lose $60-$90 instead of $200-$300.
I am definitly getting one of these bad boys! The black one... ofcourse! i love to take things apart that are expensive such as an ipod or this it is so exciting knowing you probably wont get it back together. roffle
yea man, but i gotta get money first
that video is scary. im not gonna try that unless i have the money to buy another psp in case i mess up.
That has to be one of the most disturbing videos I've seen on the entire Internet haha. Seriously, I will not buy this product. You need to butcher your PSP to get this thing in.
I thought the ones that go over the screen and had a camera were crazy.
this thing is great, im buyin one, but a nother psp first
man, that was very entertaining, but it just made me cringe so badly from watching it....eee....scary....
Where's the blooper reel?
Hmm. the video won't download for me. First it got stuck at 20%, so I restarted. Now it's stuck at 75%.
This is without doubt the best psp video i have ever seen. its better than psphacking 101. Nobody in thier right mind is gonna do that to thier psp. i thought about gettign this....but 1) its expensive and b) that video ........they must be crazy. and they didnt even show a what it looked like on the big screen , why? thats the mst important bit....maybe the low resolution doesnt look so nice on a big screen huh? maybe..
I also was thinkin about buyin one of these things. But after that video, those mirrored things don't look half bad anymore!!! I thought it was a slight modification, but you take the psp apart about 50% of the way!!! Unbelievable! Never in a million years!
Oh, don't be a p*ssy, that looked easy! :) :) Actually, I have to admit I didn't think it would involve taking apart THAT much, but I've taken one apart completely and put it all back together, so I'm cool with it... (And you aren't actually cutting anything with that knife, it's just releasing things.) At least it's completely reversable if you decide you don't want it on anymore... (Warranty is still gone, but I've already put an Asterix faceplate on mine, so I'm at that point already...)
Reversible? that would be true if you keep the old sticky parts sticky.. and if you have enough money to buy this thing, i would stop and think about getting a PS2...
$120+$30(ps2 pad)=$150(brand new PS2)
Mad tune on the video worth d/l just for that, but there is no way i'd take my PSP to bits to install that.
absolutely brilliant design. replacing the flex circuit with your own is very clever.. nice work.
