PATS

The first version of PATS by GMDude66 , based on the original version by realn0whereman and youresam1, was featured yesterday here in QJ. And now a much improved version of this Anti-Theft System is here for your PSP's slash Baby's security.

Here's how it works. When you double click the "setowner.reg" file, information will be added to the registry stating that that particular computer is the TRUE owner of the PSP. When you plug the PSP into a computer "autorun.inf" will run "findowner.bat" and if it doesn't read the registry of the owner data, a browser window opens up and sends the users IP address to the TRUE owner's email, which was set in the "index.htm" file.

Installation Instructions:

1. Drag and drop all the file in this folder into your psp root.
2. Open 'ms0:index.htm' in NotePad and edit the fake email address and replace with YOUR email address.
3. Save 'index.htm'.
4. Open up 'ms0:pspcommonpassword.txt'.
5. Edit first line for YOUR password.
(DO NOT use anything important (such as forums, sites, aim, etc. password).
6. Save 'password.txt' (Much easier than version 1, eh?).

NOTE: If you do not have 'ms0:pspcommonpassword.txt' file you will get a VB error!

What's New in this Version:
  • Added a 'password' box.
  • Ditched the registry.
  • Ditched the .bat file and now using .vbe (MUCH more features).
  • If password is correct an explorer window will automatically open.
Thanks to Dragula96 for the tip.

Very Poor indeed

 » Ain't working

Its autorun isn't working. PATS1 and ATPSP are working properly with the autorun. The concept it nice, nut there is no icon support. Hoppefuly th next release will have icon support and have the autorun work.

 » pffft anti-theft system.

Just remember kids that if you steal one just turn off you internet before you plug it in. Ir if you don't want anything from the memory card, just format it on the psp.

pffft anti-theft system. Kinda like a video camera. It watches people rob your store. Theres no "anti" anything. Its an after the fact solution.

Yea..A thief's really going to turn off their internet when they steal a psp. They will not suspect anything.

 » Maybe a fix?

Open autorun.inf and change open to shellexecute.
Tell me if it works.

» Like the Idea... Try Not Scripting, Maybe An Excutable

Yea that is the problem and if they have Windows Defender... it Pops and askes if you want to allow this script.... I don't think this will help if you get your PSP Stolen by some Computer Nerd... Beacuse He'll Notice the little POP Up thing if he has Defender or Beta Antispyware from microsoft...

Sorry, to say but Good idea bad Computer programs that can block this Well thought out Stuff...

But, keep up the good work. maybe you'll get past those Barriers

 » kinda dumb

if someone steal the psp cant they just format the stick and reset the settings thats why the psp security sucks to begin with

 » bah

More importantly... who would want to steal a PSP to begin with. The thing has the worst graphics ever and is way over-priced. Wait for PSP 2.

   by pj1115 (Unregistered) - 2006-06-03
 » works

okay, in the autorun, change "open=" to "shellexecute=" , and it should work. Toodles!

 » icons

oh, and to get the icons to work, just open the autorun file, and make a new line.
put it as this:

icon=icon.ico

obviously, change the name of the icon to whatever it's called. Honestly, you're all pretty stupid if you think that the provided autorun doesn't support it, it's you who hasnt set it!
