PSP Gallery Demo made with the Dungeons Engine 2 - Image 1

PSP homebrew developer charnold, who is known for his work on the homebrew PSP Dungeons, has come out with a rather impressive tech demo of his Dungeons Engine 2. The PSP Gallery Demo shows off the improvements that were made to the engine such as the rendering of colored lightmaps and more complex 3D objects (as compared to the original build).

The demo is pretty sweet and allows you to walk around a virtual gallery. The textures, renders, and lighting look professionally done, the question is how was it done? The developer gave word that the lightmapped polygons are rendered in two passes or more, each with a different texture. There can be more depending on the image being rendered such as graffiti or glowing lights.

So download the program and try it out. Charnold has stated that this engine might even be developed into a game in the future, which is something that you might want to look out for.

That's what we really need, homebrew games with the graphics, playability, and quality of professionally made games. Sadly this takes a lot of time and effort, and people will expect it to be free.

It'd work about as much as communism :(

I tried putting my own photos in and renaming them to the original file names from this program, but the pic just looked messed up.

the resolution must be power of 2, like 256x256, 128x128... (use a tool like irfan view to resize your pics)

 » Thanks, that worked

I used GraphicConverter OS X to resize the pics and they worked fine. They cut some in half though. I'll have to experiment with the sizes.
