After only a year of service, Europe's Go!Messenger service will be shutting down. According to SCEE, it just wasn't that popular: Although Go!Messenger brought innovative communications features to the PSP community, the service has not developed the base of users that we were hoping for. We’d like to thank all fans of Go!Messenger and are sorry to have to make this announcement. Bad news for gamers in Europe who liked the service, and bad news for other regions who were hoping to get it. If you had no idea what it was, Go!Messenger is a service that allowed you to send videos, voice recordings, and text messages. It also allowed video-chat using the Go!Cam. It will officially shut down on March 31. On the brighter side of things, Sony says they have more services planned for the Go!Cam. What these were exactly, they didn't say. I'm just hoping they'll release it for other regions this time. So long, Go!Messenger, I never knew you:

i'd pay BT a monthly fee just to keep it running. where else in the world can you get portable video chatting device that runs on wifi? i really liked this feature. i might just sell my psp now.. and get an ipod. well i take that back. i don't blame BT for shutting it down. it was hardly popular. i had maybe 200 contacts that never got on, except for one, and that's good enough.
i guess i'll get a webcam.

The service was doomed to fail from the start when BT dropped all support for it as soon as they released it. There were NUMEROUS problems with the connection, logging, making accounts and most importantly they have never enabled the transfer of the account from one PSP to another. Surprised it lasted this long.
