PlayStation Portable battery pack - Image 1While the Noobz's Pandora's Battery unbricker is a definite godsend, the problem is that creating this tool means you'll be needing to lug around two batteries with you. Now, in case you're a little cash-strapped to buy a spare, we've picked up word on a tool that could help, courtesy of developer Booster. (Now there's a homebrew giant we haven't heard from in a while...)

Mathieulh reports that the coder has released an IPL code that, when properly installed in your target Memory Stick, will allow you to "boot PSP normally with pandora's battery" (i.e. booting up the XMB menu).

Some users online have already confirmed that this works, however there seem to be some problems with the reset function. For those who are wondering, Booster also gives us a hint of what to expect soon: "The multi_boot_loader which does boot any IPL by buttons select comes soon."

Full usage instructions are available in the file bundle's readme. Teh Luxx0rsz's discussion thread at QJ.NET's PSP Development Forums is also a good place to pick up additional details.

 » Oh cool!

Wait, you do not need to register! Well, I hope someday we do have to register so that we do not get spammers, like the one who always says, "join www.c@shcrate.com/259295 Replace the @ with an A".

It's still kinda annoying you have to keep the magic memory stick with you all the time to use it ... but great release, and glad to see you back in action Booster!

Welcome back booster!

» Yeah, my thoughts exactly Johnny!

I was very surprised to see Booster's name! I'm thrilled! I thought he'd died or something with the lack of Devhook updates, though that's in the past now! This is great news and I can hardly wait to get the next version! I've already downgraded some random dude's PSP today, who's next!?

This is great...Like a extensive recovery menu that the psp can go to even if it is bricked =)

Unbrick your PSP without a battery. Can you imagine!?

 » Suspend mode

I have noticed that the PSP no longer goes into suspend mode with this. When the PSP is woken up from suspend mode, it just hard boots. It's not a big deal, but would be nice if a patch or workaround could be made.

Thanks a lot Booster; I'm glad to see you're back in the game. However, I thought you could revert a Pandora's battery back into a standard one...? Did I hear incorrectly?

Excuse my ignorance. After reading a little into the dev forum, I realized the full implications of this. This opens up a ton of doors! Read the dev forum to understand a little better. Thank you so much, Booster!

newsposter, please do read noobz's site...

"The authors of the Pandora release should be properly credited as either the Prometheus project, or Team C+D. Places that have credited it as Noobz are incorrect - it is much more than simply a Noobz release."
