PSP Revolution

Are your coordination skills still up to par? Are you still good with your fingers? We don't think anyone's really that bad with their fingers. It's all a matter of how you use them, anyways. That's why practice will always help.

Now we haven't heard from PSP Revolution recently. All we've been getting for some time now are mods and additional "skins". Hardrive tipped us off, and we just found out that today, DeNitro and Devin923 have released PSP Revolution v0.3 for everyone to get busy with. For those not familiar with this non-homebrew-looking homebrew, it's played much like Step Mania. Keep up with the music and make sure you time your button presses well when they hit the indicators on the top of the screen.

Here are some excerpts from the changelog:
  • New grading and scoring system based off of DDR MAX 2
  • Score Screen Redesigned
  • Song Preview Music now plays proper section of a song instead of from the beginning
  • Added a slight delay to preview playback for a better feel when selecting songs
  • Max song image size supported increased to 1024x768+
  • Screenshots now saved as .JPG's to the PSP's photo folder (1.5 firmware doesn't show .PNG's)
  • Song and pack lists are now sorted alphabetically
  • New step explosion effects that are now colored to match type of hit
  • Greatly receded memory usage of step and beat information when a song is loaded to play
  • Significantly decreased game and song load times
There's like a whole Sunday's worth of other changes, new features, and bug fixes that they've done for v0.3, but it'll take us some time to list it down here. So, to save time (because we know some of you would just go on ahead and download the homebrew), you can either check that out in the readme or in our Download site (linked below). The readme also includes all the info you need to install additional songs and where to get them. So use your fingers and click-click-click!

 » Sim files

You have to download your own sim files and put them on yourself. http://www.ddruk.com/ has all of the DDR mixes available for download as sim files, btw.

 » ..At unknown ^^^

but wtf i have my bro psp that is 1.50 and mine that 2.80
it cant only run 0.1 because it runs in user mode

   Re: kyelewis (Unregistered) - 2006-11-23
 » No

PSPR v0.2 works on 2.8 just fine. I haven't tried 0.3 yet, but hopefully it has better song compatibility (v0.2 didn't support pauses properly which threw off timing on some more complex songs).

Thanks guys,

It definitely works with eLoader on Sony's firmware 2.71, so I'm hoping it also works on eLoader on 2.80. If anyone tries it please let us know =)

Ok, i haven't done stuff like this in a long time and i feel like a noob, but i have a PSP with version 2.0, installed everything for PSPRevolution (hopefully), but everytime i try starting the game i get that annoying "Game Could Not Start". Where does "PSPR%" go?

 » Woah...

This version workd with the new eloader! yay! But did any of you tried transtering anime songs from the anime mod on qj? I can only choose one difficulty on those songs :( Anyways...Cool dizzy effect!

   Re: eggwonder (Unregistered) - 2006-11-22
 » well...

if u cant change the difficulty then it is likely that it is a challenge song and the steps should be stuck pink.

btw this version seems a lot harder than the previous version, but i can get more steps in before i fail on maxx unlimited.
   by tps*****s - 2006-11-22
 » Nice :D

My dancemat broke so I have to stick to the psp version... And Ive barely played anythin (or done anything) else since I have discovered it :P This is great! But some of the songs won't let me change difficulty :(

 » is grading too harsh?

i played un monde parfait and i thought i did quite well when i got a max combo of 127 with score of 71724036 and then:

marvelous 213
perfect 94
great 90
good 11
boo 5
miss 13
O.K. 46

a total of 426 steps and i hit 413 with more than 50% marvelous, but all i got was a B.

   Re: Ryalla - 2006-11-22
 » Nope.

It's realistic.

   Re: Ryalla - 2006-11-22
 » Example Score for > B

Marvalous - 152
Perfect - 58
Great - 13
Good - 0
Almost - 0
Missed - 0
Freeze - 8

Song - Pink Rose
Artist - Kiyommy + Seiya
Difficulty - Medium
Combo - 223
Score - AA

---

If you look around the web, I'm sure you'll find a few sites that have the statistics for the scores in DDR. Use those and that's how you get higher.

 » Amazing.

I haven't played since v.01 because of firmware updates but this is amazing. The synching is awesome (insane amount of progress since .01) and so many bugs are fixed. I can't thank you enough. And yes, this does work for 2.8. Works with both Xloader and Eloader. If anyone is having troubles, copy the 1.5 files and then replace the Eboot in the psprevolution folder (without %) with the 1.0 Eboot.

Thanks for the awesome game.

 » Help me anyone?

Ok firstly....i liked the songs from the anime version (working perfectly in ver0.2, 3 difficulties, correct "preview" song in the selection menu) But I cpied the songs over to ver0.3, it has only one difficulty and preview like 1second of the song in the menu...wonder why....

   Re: DeNitro - 2006-11-22
 » Anime version songs

MonkeyBoy1916 who is the creator of the Anime mod version has contacted me about this. Try this, go to each of the song's folders from the Anime version, and delete the .SM file. The game will still load the songs using the DWI files and it should work. It's quick fix till the next one of us puts out an update +)

 » Great Job!!

I can honestly say that I I play PSPR v0.2 everyday! By far my favorite homebre game! I was going to ask how I could show my support but I found the PayPal link in the readme: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_xclick&business=denitro%40hotmail%2ecom&no_shipping=0&no_note=1&tax=0¤cy_code=USD&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF&charset=UTF%2d8

Thanks again DeNitro and Devin923!!!

 » Sorry the bad English

Yes, I'll be waiting for the new music pack, but the moreover a new versio, nice job!

I'm happy that new versio is here, but I'm want to change something, if I can. When we go the music list and listen the preview some music piece, it's start some were in the middle in piece. Not bad, yet. But when we try the olders PSP Revolution songs to put in the new one, they previews don't sound so good, some music piece don't play at all. That's why I like more the versio 0.2 music list. Perhaps yuo can fix it next time.

And one more thing, more DANCE music, Please.

   Re: eggwonder (Unregistered) - 2006-11-23
 » DANCE music?

when you say that do you mean songs like don't clock me or kick the can or 321 stars or tsugaru(and also the apple mix). cause those are some of my favorites from the real game and i might make a new skin for pspr cause i dont like the default and aoi.

so if you know any DANCE music that you are interested in seeing in a mod give an example or a list.
by Improvement maker (Unregistered) - 2006-11-24
 » I try to say...

...there are some good and bad music piece in PSP Revolution collection, but hey, it's my opinion. When I download the new PSP Revolution music pack in this site, I try those songs and pick out those songs, what I like to play and HEAR.
For example, this far I realy like to this songs:
-Super Trouper
-I Turn to You
-Resurrection
I like those Anime and Nintendo music also, but not everyone. I always throw away those, how I explain, "bad, mood and boring" pieces. Those songs what I this far have save are "happy, funny and COOL" music pieces. Those are not only what I like to play, my friends like also more those piece. Those music songs like play over and over. It's not only a music, game play is GREAT.
In my PSP Revolution collection, I have now over 29 music piece that what I like to play.
In versio 0.3, I only pick up piece Hardcore Overdoze.

TIP: hmm, I wish there some day are possible to make own piece in PSP Revolution.

 » my psps messed up

something happened and my psprevolution folder got corrupted. then it changed the name of the folder to _DEL_00000000000612705251 and it totals 630 megs when the other one was only about 100 megs. it wont let me delete it and now i dont have any room left on my memory card. if anyone can help thanx.

   Re: DeNitro - 2006-11-25
 » Corrupt Files

This isn't caused by PSP Revolution itself but is caused by just regular use of the memory stick over time (very rare though). To fix it you'll have to back up everything you can off it to your computer and just reformat the stick.

   Re: Devin923 (Unregistered) - 2006-11-27
 » Messed up memory

I ran into the same problem a few days ago myself. It was caused my the frequent use of the memory stick and had I was forced to format my stick to correct the problem. :-P
