PSP Slim now available for pre-order at Amazon

Good news for PlayStation Portable owners looking to score one of the new-and-improved, slimmed-down PSPs - Amazon is offering not one, not two, but three flavors you can choose to pre-order the redesigned piece of portable gaming joy, bundled with a few neat extras that's sure to get the gamer in you salivating for more. We get you the skinny on how Amazon's riding the PSP-2000 wave with its three pre-order packs.

The first is the Sony PSP Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron Entertainment Pack Bundle. Remember Sony's conference at E3, where none other than Chewbacca himself came onto the stage and advertised a particular Star Wars-flavored bundle of PSP Slim joy? This is that package, complete with the white PSP slim casing that has Darth Vader's own likeness imprinted upon it. This beauty will cost gamers the mere pittance of US$ 200.

Next up is the Sony PSP Daxter Entertainment Pack Bundle. No, you don't get Daxter's grinning face imprinted on the PSP itself, but you do get the nifty gadget in a cool, eye-catching Silver color. Like the Star Wars Entertainment Pack, the Daxter Entertainment Pack will set you back two hundred greenbacks.

If you're looking for a more traditional package, then look no further for the last but not least pre-order pack - the Sony PlayStation Portable System itself, in classic Black. A great choice for those of us who prefer to keep things simple and not too flashy, the Sony PlayStation 2000 System pack will have you forking over US$ 170 for countless hours of time-killing gameplay.

or psp slim is worse than the older PSP..
the original PSP can always go on with homebrews and emulators..

I picked up a rumor (strictly that... a rumor) that the PSP-2000, aka PSP-slim, will have a newer FW installed on it from day 1. The version that was rumored to be is v3.60. M33 guys... start your engines. I think I'll keep my PSP-1000 for a while. I like my OE CFW.
