Bitmap Hunter v4 - Image 1

Homebrew developer Art is back with another piece of homebrew goodness for the PlayStation Portable. This one's called Bitmap Hunter and it lets users hunt for and directly edit monochrome or 256 colour bitmaps within firmware files for quick customization.

This release bumps Bitmap Hunter up to version 4. Here's the changelog:
  • Added 256 colour palette for viewing images in colour, and support for Garmin custom palettes for for Garmin GPS devices (60Cx, 60CSx, 76Cx, 76CSx).
  • Improved button speed and responsiveness.
  • Cursor movement speed is now constant no matter how much detail is drawn on the screen.
  • Implemented on screen buttons that are clicked with cursor.
  • Added fields to display information about selected pixel.
  • Added 4x zoom mode to the zoom view box.
  • Added file browser for selection of firmware file to work with.
  • Implemented experimental 24 and 32 bit bitmap viewing modes.
Interestingly enough, Art also says that Bitmap Hunter's use as a language translation tool for homebrew that use .PNG files is "possible in theory" but it would work differently:

You wouldn't be able to see a png until you selected the exact start offset since they are compressed, which would make searching this way slow, but since png headers would be intact for homebrew, a program could just search an eboot and easily find them by itself.
