A couple of days ago, reports of some PSP games messing with files in the ms0:/seplugins and ms0:/iso folders came to light. In response, homebrew developer Torch released CFW Folder Blocker, a plugin that hides the aforementioned folders in GAME mode so they couldn't be accessed. Here's what it does according to Torch: When anything tries to list the contents of the memory stick, it removes these folders from the output, so they cannot enumerate the folders. It also causes any attempt to directly open the folders or directly access files in those folders to fail. The original release of CFW Folder Blocker also blocked GAME folder apps, limiting the usage of some homebrew apps. This version doesn't activate in homebrew anymore, so if you had problems with the first release you should upgrade to this one. So far, it looks like DJ Max Fever and Dissidia: Final Fantasy are the only identified culprits. Says Torch, Dissidia reportedly deletes cwcheat and pspstate, while DJ Max Fever refuses to launch if it finds any file that has "iso" in its name in the seplugins folder. You can find out more by joining the ongoing discussion about this on our forums. Download: CFW Folder Blocker v1.1 Visit: QJ.NET PSP Development forum Related articles: |

» Sony likes to mess with us.
They make something that deletes folders to annoy us... IRShell is out there you know? It doesn't have to be in a specific folder I think.
This plugin is great btw... Looking forward for updates.

» Heh,
Despite what SONY/game devs are implementing in these games,
they aren't trying to "mess with us."
They can't have piracy, and I don't see what's so hard to understand about that. Put your selves in the shoes of the business standpoint.
Sure it isn't good for the few who actually have legal backups of their games, (thank the $hitty UMD) and those that use plugins, but they're a company trying to make the bucks, not an office full of smiters LOL. As long as we can find work-arounds, we're not losing the good scene.
None the less, thank you Torch for bringing this to light.
I haven't even heard of this issue prior to this plugin.
