Title says it all - Image 1After having received ported PS2 games, the PSP may have to start turning elsewhere for inspiration, and for a new library of titles to port.

As the post from PSPFanboy has pointed out, several games that were originally for the GBA will be making their way onto the PSP. Foremost among these would be the GBA remakes of Final Fantasy 1 and 2, as well as the GBA RPG, Riviera: The Promised Land. Other platforms are not spared as the DS game Asphalt Urban GT 2 will also be ported to the PSP, as well as the PC game Gish, and XBox1 titles Xyanide and Painkiller: Hell Wars.

This may be a good thing for those who may not have been able to play these titles on their original consoles, but we have to remember that man cannot live on ports alone, and that as nice as they are, we really would still like to see some original titles more often.

 » Actually,

The original games are from the WonderSwan/Color system. Do some research before posting instead of copying other's news...

 » haha

so they want me to buy gamaes for $50 on a system that's $200 to play games ported from cheaper systems? and worse yet, other handheld ones?

i can get a DS and Asphalt Urban GT 2 for less then the system.
i can get the Final Fantasy games on the GBA and the system for around a $100 or just play it on my DS and still spend less than the PSP cost.
same with the Xbox game, bad enough we get PS1 and 2 ports, now i get Xbox ones?

the final fantasy ports or more ps1 updates, since it's using all the material found in them and the extras found in the GBA version...

oh and speaking of RESEARCH LiraNuna, the original games are from the Nintendo Entertainment System/Famicom...

 » Hmm

FF I & II are not GBA ports. I almost commented at PSPFanboy but didn't have the energy, and now I see a reference! Goodness. It's not a port, it's a remake. The only ports (modified and added content for each release) were between Wonderswan, GBA and PS1.

 » Ports aren't Remakes

Ports aren't remakes - port is to take the original code - change basic I/O and viola - you got a game.

Remake is enhaching - taking something and making it better for the new system.
The first port EVER for those games (not just FFs) had started from the WonderSwan.

 » Blahh....

Well I would be excited about Cave Story if they truly remade the game with all new graphics to match the PSP capabilities. But I've heard that it's just a port and it's being developed by some no name company so I've lost hope for that. I would love it if they brought Riviera: The Promised Land and Disgaea over to North America but that's still to be seen so whatever.

 » re

final fantasy 1 and 2 for the PSP arent actually ports but are more of a remake inclucing new content which was in the GBA versions and the videos from the PS1 versions, this along with widescreen and new animations including all new sprites etc make the game pretty much as good as new. Its all part of square-enix final fantasy anniversary or something. read up on it.
