V036-pre5-text-shout

Raf with help from Sandberg have released a new version of his very popular PSPRadio for the PSP, version 0.36–pre5. PSPRadio is an internet radio streaming client for the PSP. This release has many changes including taking screenshots and downloading a compressed version of Shoutcast.com’s database. The full list of changes in this release include:

(raf) Lots of cleanup / refactoring
(raf) Now downloads a compressed version of SHOUTcast.com's database instead.
(sandberg) Added a particle system as a new background effect for the 3D UI.
(raf) Simplified wifi selection. One option to select profile or turn off.
(raf) Screens are classes now. If going back and forth between screens, they will retain their state.
(sandberg) Added support for taking screenshots. Use the Hold button to take a screenshot. When the LED stops flashing the screenshot is stored in the Screenshots folder (you need to create that folder, if you don't have it already).
(raf) Modified the pspsdk's text rendering system to allow for png backgrounds and transparent text.
(raf) Gave the TextUI a facelift by using backgrounds for the different screens.. This is configurable via the cfg file.
(raf) Fixed bug where if the playlist was empty, garbage was being used when the user pressed X or O.
(sandberg) Added support repeated and long key presses. The repeated key presses are usefull when navigating the playlists.
(sandberg) Moved the screenshot function to be activated on a long key press on Select (appr. 1 second). The screenshot will be taken when releasing the button.
(raf) Backup the db in case the download fails.
(raf) Disabled the HOME menu button for now. To exit PSPRadio, go to Options and select Exit.

You can get it in our PSP Download section [here].

I just downloaded and installed.
With a few problems :)
i first had to rease the complete PSPradio dirs from my Memstick (was not possible via USB on PSP) but after i inserted the files clean everything worked like a charm.
I still dont use it with DHCP.

it Takes its time to DL and decompress the shoutcast list and i thought he should have a bit more than 10 stations afterwards ^^ (the time it took felt more like a hundred?)
And i wasnt able to take a screenie until now.
But Keep the good work up!
Thanks for the awsome homebrew!

hmm i just renamed the "db.XML" on my memstick to 'just' "db" after i swiched to the graphical UI i was able to swich to an invisible Playlist and there were all the 600 stations!

Me again.
Renamed the "DB" to "Top600" exited PSPradio opened it again and there it was in my playlists :D

Maybe restarting after downloading the playlist would have done the trick.

Tuning out...

Does this thing really stream well? Is it just a lot of pretty, or is it worth taking for a spin?

Hmm... for some reason, I can't stream. I can try to before I connect, but after I connect, nothing happens when I push X.
..and the exit code just locks up my PSP, but it doesnt crash.

hmmm... (sam), I'm assuming you have a WiFi connection. Did you go into the options and make sure you have your current one enabled...

And make sure you've set up the wifi connections on the PSP itslf

Just thought i would share the news with you 1.5'ers out there, theres a new ripped browser for 1.5 which was ripped from the game "fired up"(sucky game tho).
I cant give you a link google it and you will probably run into it.

It supports going forward and back, it seems a little slower than tenchi no mon, but that could just be me...anyways enjoy the internetz on your PSP.

Pervious versions of this worked like a charm for me. Now, this version simply doesn't stream. Connection is properly set up and selected, connections seems to be established fine in PSPRadio. But, when I select a stream to play, it just simply doesn't do anything.

Ok, weird. I downloaded one of those skins Turbo posted (white karona, to be specific. very nice.), and it ended up working. But, as soon as I tried to switch stations, it crashed. Then, I tried the 3D skin. After going to the options screen, it crashed again.

How come it doesn't download the full Shoutcast list? Just like 20 or so stations? Am I doing something wrong?
