Sandberg has released a new homebrew game, PSPTris v0.5. PSPTris is a tetris clone for the PSP. Although this is the stand alone version, Sandberg plans to make PSPTris run as a plugin for Raf's PSPRadio homebrew application.

This version is the initial release, and includes the basic game. It features:
 • Game type selection - You can currently choose between Classic and Brick (Availible in the next version)
 • Level selection - Select your difficulty level from 1-9
 • High score table - Show off your PSPTris high scores to your friends!
This homebrew game plays really well, and will challenge the very best tetris players whilst on the hardest difficulty setting (level 9). When implemented, this game will be a great addition to PSPRadio; and with PSPRadio now featuring a fully-functional browser, and with the addition of PSPTris as a plugin to come, PSPRadio is changing from an online radio streaming application to an all-purpose shell!

PSPTris has been tested to work on both 1.5 and 2.0+ using the latest eLoader.

 » I dont get it

Uh, why would u want tetris in PSP Radio? Unless PSP Radio becomes an OS shell, why bother? If I wanted to play a game, I would rather choose it through the game menu than load up PSPRadio and navigate to the plugins. Seems a little pointless to me.
Looks pretty damn good otherwise!

maybe the plugin could allow you to play tetris while pspradio plays music in the background.

 » Not bad...

The only thing better than the other Tetris games PSP emulates is the flashy backgrounds. Not bad, though.

 » yea

It needs to go alot faster when you press down. other than that its ok.

to 5 and 9 : Yep. The plugin version will allow you to continue listening to the music from PSPRadio while playing.

to 6 : Because you can't run that inside PSPRadio :)

to 8 : Maybe if you were a little bit more creative in your critics, it might change something.

I kinda wish the music was less "metallic"

 » Links

I've been using links since 1990.

And there is a reason. It hasn't changed.

It is far from fully-functional. It is a text-based browser for Unix with graphics patched over top of it. It has poor tables support and no CSS support.

The only good thing about it is that it is so portable. Links-hacked would have been a far better choice to port if your porting links clones.

 » PSPRadio Plugin?

Sorry, but does this mean we will be able to play the game while listening to wi-fi radio? If so then I guess #14 would get his/her wish ( sorry 14, had to be politically correct there with the "his/her" part :P..lol)

how and where can i start the game?

@ 14 : The music is metallic because it is 8 bit mono samples. It is some really old modules from when I was coding on the Amiga.

@ 16 : Yep. Next release will also contain a plugin version for PSPRadio, meaning that you can listen to radio or your local stored music while playing.

@ 17 : You start it as all other homebrew games from the menu or via the Eboot loader on 2.x firmware. This release is not a PSPRadio plugin, but a stand alone version.

 » Both Standalone AND plugin!

From sandberg's post #18:

Next release will also contain a plugin version for PSPRadio

Great! Because PSPRadio (great app!) drains my battery, I'd prefer to keep the standalone option. That missile over the Kremlin theme is very late 80s ;)

How about an option to rotate the screen? I own a Tetris LCD game
http://www.toysnjoys.com/radica/bigscreentetris.jpg
and it's much better with the screen that way.

Thanks for a great game!

@ 21 : I've got a lot of comments about the screen rotation, so I've added it to my to-do list for the game. I'm not sure if it makes it into the next release, but I will make this option as soon as possible. And thanks for the comments.
