Homebrew PSPTube 20080109 from SofiyaCat for Sony PSP - Image 1Homebrew developer SofiyaCat has released a new version of the application PSPTube, bumping it up to build 2008109.

For the uninitiated, PSPTube is a program that allows users to view .FLV files on the PlayStation Portable. Such files are associated with streaming media websites like YouTube.

Unlike the previous release, however, PSPTube 2008109 does not come with a changelog so we are rather uncertain as to the exact changes.

Despite that, we are pretty confident that the coder has added a lot of improvements that will delight the program's long-time users.

As a matter of fact, QJ,NET forum member FreePlay has posted a comment over at our own PSP Development Forum saying that one addition noticed was the ability to delete saved videos from the "Favorites" folder.

At any rate, be sure that you know exactly what you are doing in installing PSPTube 2008109 to your Sony handhelds to avoid any problems.

QJ.NET would like to thank Isaac D. for the heads up!

Crappy Update!

the last one was way better, all the videos are out of sync, too many pixels, etc....i have a 100% connection so its not that. its the new update im sticking with the previous one. ALSO FOR THE RETARD THAT KEEPS POSTING THAT THE MOON SITE DOESN'T WORK IT DOES!!!!!!!!!!!! U DON'T NEED TO LOG IN ON THE PSP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT WORKS YOU ARE PROBABLY EDITING STUFF!!!!

 » moon site?

you mean dailymotion? normal clips work, just not the pron. it's the same from your comp, you'll just get the age verification login sh1t. i've confirmed with at least 3 of my other friends. unless you're tellin me dailymotion filters ip from my area to require login rofl

I played around with it and I found that you can change the playback speed with the left & right buttons; faster-right, slower-left. Unfortunately, you can't rewind the video. The numbers that show in the previous version during playback isn't present in this new version. Also in addition to the change video size function, you can stretch the video vertically.

Fullscreen stretching past top/bottom borders of screen (Select button)

Menu is slightly updated from what I can tell.

Seems to run smoother, less crashing.

That's all I can tell, someone else point out if I'm missing anything.

   Re: FreePlay - 2008-01-09
 » .

You can also play back at 0.5x, 1x, or 2x speeds.

And for those of you who didn't know, you can play Divx files from the memory stick by putting them in your Favorites folder.

Also Matroska, WMV, Quicktime, ASX, MP4, and MPEG, though support for those is limited. It can even ALMOST play PMP.

» And there you have it.

I post the most helpful, informative post on the front page, and get 0 stars.

Yep, QJ's front page is full of drooling knuckle-draggers.

 » Suggestion for further improvement...

If there is anyone who is in contact with SofiyaCat, please suggest him to add a function at the / button during Favourites where we can rename the file name more appropriate than the original one.

   Re: Syraxius - 2008-01-09
 » i second that

like totally

and a save as feature would be great too

   Re: majorbb100 - 2008-01-09
 » yeah but...

it would be nice, but you can always just use psp adhoc file transfer v6 to rename the files in your favorites. just make sure that they still say .flv at then end :)

   Re: boyanmetal - 2008-01-10
 » Yup...

... file name change can be done with Filer too but rather going out of PSPTube just to rename it, a function like that can make it more sweeter to use PSPTube. Beside, in Filer, there is no thumbnail to correspond with the file that needs to be rename. User will need to remember the unique file name that need to be change.

Not editing the config files, eh...

   Re: Syraxius - 2008-01-09
 » hmm

opened the config and only saw nico's login. couldn't find a proper readme for adding dailymotion login lines. any clue? :(

   Re: DiabloTerrorGF - 2008-01-09
 » !!

So it does have NicoNico support then, hell yeah.

   Re: boyanmetal - 2008-01-10
 » Not for me...

I got it work for Dailymotion. Even manage to save a clip from there. I didn't do any extra steps. Just copy over the folder and then went on with the testing.

 » crashed and crppy audio

i hva the previous version and it works fine but this new one it does crash sometime and the audio is crappy.

   by xCHRISx - 2008-01-09
 » eww

i doubt this release is any better than the last. They never work well on my psp, or maybe its like that for everyone? Im getting the previous release to work about once every 5 attempts -_-

   by Metal Jody - 2008-01-09
 » I found sort of a changelog

The left and right buttons on d-pad controls the speed. It's not so good to use the speed-up for buffering videos but in your favorites is best.

I wish there was some way to toggle ON the buffer percentage, like in the previous one. Hopefully that will be in the next PSPtube

   by Metal Jody - 2008-01-09
 » also..... (changelog continued)

There are more screen modes (15). It stretches the screen like those older PSPtubes back in the day.

   by Beltza - 2008-01-11
 » Two versions

I've installed the two versions, the last one and this one. The las one works better with bufferings videos, and this one is better with saved videos.
It is a great program.
