PSPVC - Image 2PSPVC - Image 1

PSPVC is a FFMPEG front-end GUI to help Linux users convert video files for the PSP. Now, fif1973 has released v0.2 of this video conversion utility today. I'm not well-educated in Linux-know how, but if your version of Linux can execute .sh files, then this video conversion program should work for you. This nifty little application also allows you to queue batch video conversions and set different parameters for each one.

PSPVC will convert ordinary video files into both MPEG4/SP (all firmwares) and H264/AVC (firmware 2.0+), and has a range of customizable options. You can edit the aspect ratio, video bitrate, audio bitrate and you can even choose an image to have as your thumbnail. The latest version of PSPVC also includes an estimated time of when conversion will finish.

Thanks for the tip gorka!

 » Yay!

Someone actually made something for Linux? Good job, if I had my Linux installed right now I would test it out but my test PC has other stuff on it.

 » regarding .sh files

[quote]
The .sh files are nothing but shell-scripts. Which means that you will be able to use this on any distro of linux.

The only pre-requisite, I assume, would be ffmpeg.

That, and whatever graphical toolkit the program is actually using (gtk, qt, someother widgets...... perl, python, tcl/tk, some other scripting language).

I guess for linux users it should be pretty self explanatory (unless linux user is too lazy to read through the sourcecode/docs/readmes :P)

 » Thanx SO MUCH

this seems to be a gtk app by the looks of the source files. you will need basic build tools installed GCC MAKE.. Etc, and if you don't have gnome installed you will need gnome-lib

 » windows compatible?

Does this only work with Linux? If yes, what's a good converter for windows? Hopefully one that can convert .mph and .avi into PSP's ridiculous format.

Oh XD...

This project has been out there for about 6 months, and is really the only real way to convert to AVC on linux through a GUI.

This is the command essentially that the gui runs:

ffmpeg -y -ss 0 -t 0 -i "/the/path/to/the/file/to/convert.avi" -title "TITLE OF MOVIE" -bitexact -f psp -r 29.970030 -s 368x208 -padtop 0 -padbottom 0 -b BITRATE -bufsize BITRATE -vcodec h264 -coder 1 -g 250 -acodec aac -ac 2 -ar 48000 -ab AUDIOBITRATE -vol 430 MAQ10004.MP4

Hi,

PSPVC is an FFMPEG GUI for PSP conversion. The .sh script install a modified version of ffmpeg and x264 from sources (will not interfer with your distribution version) to be fully compatible with the PSP formats.

You just need some library build tools and some libraries (with dev packages)
libfaac, libfaac-dev,libxvidcore, libxvidcore-dev, libgtk2.0, libgtk2.0-dev

If you need ogg support or others, contact me, i will explain you what you need to modify into install.sh script

 » Thanks

Thanks for this it works great. I already had a modified ffmpeg on my Linux box thanks to the extraordinary efforts of some guy who produced a really hacked up psp-recode.sh but who I can't credit because the web page is gone and his name sadly forgotten. It took a lot of nastiness to build his psp-recode.sh but this is tool is much simpler :)

Thanks for the efforts.
