PSX GameID Changer

Aserto from our forums has just released a little application for use on your Windows PC to help organize your PSX EBOOTs on your memory stick into a naming format you wish to give it, rather than the default title. If you don't want all your games to be called "hot shots golf" then this may be just the right application for you. Being able to change the GameID of a PSP compatible PSX game has always been present, but until now required the use of a hex editor which not only requires expert knowledge but a reasonable amount of time. With this application you can change the GameID of your PSX titles quickly and with little fuss.

Over the holiday period we have seen many Popstation Gui's materialize, culminating in the release of PSX2PSP v0.7 today which is supposed to be easier and faster to use than most Popstation GUI's, circumventing the need for cygwin.dll, base.pbp and popstation.exe on your computer. Using a PSX2PSP tool in combination with aserto's PSX GameID Changer will certainly save you time and make your PSP much more organised - all in a 6KB download! What more could you ask for?

Works great thanks. Is there a program out yet which allows us to change the pictures of the PSX EBOOT?

   Re: . (Unregistered) - 2006-12-28
 » .

Yes, popstation allows you to do that.

   Re: Snarg (Unregistered) - 2006-12-28
 » .

Yes, but I think he might have meant on games that have already been converted.
You can do that with PSPBrew, but this can also cause the game to no longer load, so be careful what you do in there.

 » .

If you want your own pics just add them into the folder with popstation.

Use google and find the pics you want.
Resize the one you want for the icon to 144x80. And the background to 480x272.
The icon image needs to be named icon0.png and the background needs to be named pic1.png. You'll also need another picture named pic0.png but for this one I just made it 10x10 and completely transparent so I can't see it. It's the "play hot shots 2" logo.
Place all three in the folder with popstation and when it makes you eboot it will use these pics.
you can also use a program like corel and edit the pic1.png with disc 1, 2, 3... in one of the corners. just make sure to save it as a png.

That's it pretty easy

 » Don't USe this!!!

Do not use this program it will break your eboot if you do not remember your game id, or if you don't want to look it up. its on your cd sure... but copying the game id is very time consuming. don't bother :P

nm i'm a newb haha just use the hotshots golf game id and it'd work fine SCUS94228

 » Uzumaki-kun...

This works 100% for me using the legit ID from my CD, no idea why it isn't working for you, I assume it's user error.

what is the game ID????

   by PSPNerd (Unregistered) - 2006-12-28
 » Ps1 Game IDS

I am unsure if this has any bearing on the game actually working or with the game saves BUT the Game ID is the code location on the face of the disc, usually begins with SLUS or SCUS (for NTSC). If you need help finding it for a game you got elsewhere, here is a site:

could anyone tell me how to use this programme??

 » save game overwriting?

guys, normally when you use the PSX emulator save for more than 1 game, its like saving to a memory card, check the folder, see memcard1 and 2? its a preformatted stick, it shouldn't overwrite (cant speak for that easy converter thing, i stuck with popstation)

try this to change the name and the icon and background pics of eboots!!! http://pspupdates.qj.net/index.php?pg=49&aid=73057
its the best for organizing eboots..

   Re: ybakker (Unregistered) - 2006-12-28
 » content manager

Does this corrupt the PSX Eboot ? Or the does game still work after you change your images?

   Re: PSPNerd (Unregistered) - 2006-12-28
 » KINDA RIGHT

This app is great for organizing ALL PSP related media (videos, pics, saves, ISOs, homebrew, and PSX games). BUT DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT MODIFY THE PSX GAMES IN THE CURRENT CONTENT MANAGER!

Hey Visual Basic for the win,
Optomizing code since High school days.

How about allowing more than 9 letters to the game title limit.

   Re: ybakker (Unregistered) - 2006-12-28
» thats just the SCUS/SCES ID thingy

That's just the limit for the ID. I think. You know, the SCUS09242 whatever...

   Re: sigh (Unregistered) - 2006-12-28
 » sigh

man your a moron... exactly what ybakker said... its for the save games... nothing else...these codes are found on the inside of the cd or from various places on the internet
   by PSPNerd (Unregistered) - 2006-12-28
 » Kaze....

How about actually knowing how to USE the program? The game name can be however long you want. The GameID can only be 9 numbers/letters because....THAT'S HOW LONG IT IS! SHOCKER I KNOW! Example: FF7 Disc 1 is: SCUS-94163, remove the - and it is NINE CHARACTERS LONG!

   by Shadowau (Unregistered) - 2006-12-28
 » Umm?

I tried this programme on FF9 - using: SLUS01251

I went to game menu and it still says HOT SHOTS GOLF?

   by rc_square24 - 2006-12-28
 » not working for me

how do you use this? i get a windows error when i run the exe.

something like

"Component comdlg32.ocx or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"

i tried downloading it again and still the same

   by PSPNerd (Unregistered) - 2006-12-28
 » Shadowau...

Changing the game name has more to do with how the game is seen by the PSP. The main benefit for ME is using PSP Content Manager, now all my games don't say Hot Shots. The saves are MUCH better now. Updating the ID impacts where the game is saved. I just saved FF6 (Anthology) and it put it in the SLUS00900 directory, which is the ID I put in this app.

» No EBoot but Savefile corruption

This does not corrupt the EBoot or anything but does corrupt the savefile of the game (If you started playing it already)

   Re: Insane1 (Unregistered) - 2006-12-28
 » Hm...

Hm...if it changes the ID, then it'd be looking for a different save file, hence why it might "corrupt" the save. It's not looking for it.

might wanna put up a warning next time, it deleted my gamesave.
