happy peejay! At last, SUN lets Peejay's rays shine upon us as they have now opened it up for download! It took a good month and a half, but hey, they finally did it! And dickydick1969 must be helluva proud! Of course, you guys must have done a good job as well, persuading SUN to allow this release.

As initially announced, Peejay can start Java on your PSP. And now, you can download it right here. Right now. However, this is just the text (console output only) kvm targetted on Java devs. But what the heck, we're sure you're in store for boatloads of fun! As for the full-fledged midp 2.0 binary, dickydick1969 says he's still busy working on it.

What?! You dont know what Peejay is for, well let this lingering words from dickydick1969 remind you: "Yep, I made a small port of the j2me (K)VM, making my PSP capable of running JAVA programs.. It was a very easy port…. as the Sun KVM is easy to port."

Alrighty, then! Enough of the chat and get the party started!

Thanks for the heads up, Colinlokz!

» No, you can't play RuneScape

Before anyone goes "OMG RuneScape on PSP!", I'll just tell you that RuneScape is a j2se applet, whereas this runs j2me midlets (like java cellphone apps). So no RuneScape.

Otherwise, I was wondering if this would ever be released. I'm a java coder so this is nice (I'm on 2.80 though, and I know enough C anyway.)

OMIGOD RUNESCAPE ON PSP!!!! OMIGOD!!! lol just kidding, I don't think Runescape will ever be able to run on a PSP even if an app lets it, because I remember how hard my harddrive was working when I played, there isn't nearly enough RAM for Runescape on PSP so yea...

Anyways glad to see this thing released!

I just wish they woulf make a runescape 3, with comparible graphics to newer mmos

Because runescape has a great rpg heart but I cant deal with the slow azz java based engine. I wish it had keyboard support too. like waling via keyboard. You cant even hold down the mouse and I dont really like how you have to

 » Good news !

Keep it up D1ckyD!ck !

@Mabie: As annonced by the Sun's CEO yesterday, Java source code is now distributed under the GNU license v2, that's why D1ckyD!ck is now able to provide the patched source code of his PSP port ...

So when you write "Of course, you guys must have done a good job as well, persuading SUN to allow this release.", i think it's a bit too much lol !

;)

First programming language I learned and am decent at. I always thought it was going to be worthless. I might try some stuff with this, but I sure won't be developing releasable until GUI functions are fully supported and its less console based. I mean, not like we have the best of keyboards on the psp.

   Re: DiabloTerrorGF - 2006-11-14

Java was my first. I learned C and LUA just for the PSP, but I still don't like either of them. Hopefully it will run fast enough.
