Alfa Systems' Phantasy Star Portable PSP, Xbox 360,PC, PS2 - Image 1

Ever since the announcement that  Sega and Alfa Systems are working on Phantasy Star Portable on the PSP, news about the game has been rather limited. If you've been on the lookout for more information about this game, you might be happy to know that the official Phantasy Star website has released nine new screenshots of the game.

The Phantasy Star PSPscreenshots look great, showing off some of the character creation screens and what we believe to be some of the bosses. The gameplay screens are quite interesting as well since it shows a party of characters (is that multiplayer mode?) taking on some of the various enemies roaming the area.

If you're not familiar with Phantasy Star Portable, it is a conversion of the second chapter of Phantasy Star Unlimited. This game features various options such as four player multiplayer mode, new missions, and new characters.

If you plan on picking up a copy of this game, it will be available in Japan by 2008. No word yet on when the North American release is expected. Anyway, without further adieu, here's what you came here for: the screenshots for the PSP game.

 » AWESOME!

Oh heck yes a Phantasy Star game for the PSP, this will be great because it will remind me of the days back when Phantasy Star Online was out for the Dreamcast and Gamecube, those were the good old days, kinda wish PSO Episode 1 and 2 were on THE PSP aswell because that was a classic.

Wonder if they could be able to put that game unto the same UMD as the new PS game. Since this game looks better than the Gamecube and DC versions.

I know this is a new Phantasy Star game but come on, wouldnt it be great for PSO 1 and 2. This is a great system for those games.

Please let it have online mode like PSO and PSU, theres gonna be 4 player co op, so why not online play aswell.

I always thought that PSO and any Phantasy Star Online type games were great.

Yeah I know this game isnt named PSO and is apart of the new series but that was a classic, liked it better than the Sega Genesis Phantasy Star games but thats cause of online mode.

WOW THIS LOOKS AMAZING, REMINDS ME SO MUCH OF PSO! Oh yeah I havent played the new PSU game yet but it looks great.

 » PSU isnt that great

another pso entusiast I see...
I actually registered just to get to reply to this. or, well ive been lurking here forever but never actaully signed up to reply to anything. but to get to the point:

I have since the release of the PSP been wishing for a PSO port to the PSP. Not that far fetched as its been released in 3 versions for the pc, dreamcast, xbox and the gamecube.

PSO is simply the coolest online game ive played. I know its not a top of the line production and its kind of limited but when this game was at its best on the gamecube (antares 8?) it was just amazing.

As a hardcore pso fan I really looked forward to the new PSU. People called it pso2.
When I actaully got this game I was very dissapointed. It might look slightly like PSO in terms of gameplay but it lost its charm.
Ill give this game a shot ofcourse, since its PS, but this is again nothing compared to pso.
A pso port would pretty much be the best thing that could ever happen to the psp in my opinion...

 » Nice

Sega really needs to add online to this game. I feel it will have the Monster Hunter effect in Japan but fail to become as successful in the west due to lack of infrastructure and isolated fanbase. I don't have any close friends who are into these types of games, so local co-op is not a practical option for me. Give me online multi-player, I'll be hooked to this game.

C'mon Sega this is your opportunity to make this game an instant success!

 » Well...

If it's not online, we could at least use XLink or something similar to play online. Tons of people do it with the Monster Hunter games.

» exactly what I was thinking.

xlink kai is a great alternative towards making adhoc infrastructure.
