Homebrew coder DickyDick1969 has just announced that the PiMPStreamer homebrew application has been updated to version 0.83. For the guys wondering what this application does, PiMPStreamer is a PC-based application that allows users to stream video and MP3 files to their PlayStation Portables. It's also recently been updated to stream videos for the PlayStation 3's (PS3) and Nintendo Wii's browsers, with this latest version carrying MP3 support for these two consoles.

In case this is your first time using the application, here are the setup instructions: Install to PC, run PiMPStreamer, configure Opera (or the PS3 browser) to the PC's IP address at port 3333 (configurable).

Also added to version 0.83 is a set volume and play/pause function, which DickyDick1969 says can be activated by clicking on the application's little hat icon. Lastly, the author also reminds PSP owners to use the PSP binaries, not the browsable FLV streamer.

The PC and PSP installers await below for your downloading pleasure. Make sure to view the file README for the PSP version for proper installation instructions, usage details, and changelog lists. Enjoy!

Yes, you can stream via xbmc over a network share to an xbox 1.

It doesn't need to support WPA. It's your router that needs to support it. Pimpstreamer has nothing to do with the encryption type of wifi you use

A while back [pre 07] he stated on his site that he's working on a version that is compat. with WPA encryption. I hope he still is :D that'd be the win!

If you are having trouble streaming to port 3333, check in your configuration settings where the port was set, (a file openable in notepad) where it mentions the port it may be PORT 56
For some reason on some intsalls of pimpstreamer it changes to this

This a really good program that in my opinion has been let down by the constant video and audio stutter, every version i have tried has had the same result.
Is there a way to "pre-cache" the video slightly?
I know its a "real time stream" program but but getting it to pre-cache a few mbs before it sends to the psp would fix this problem... is there a way?

it works, but playback stutters every 10 seconds or so

I have 3.10 OE firmware, and I have had problems in the past with homebrew that tries to use the network connection (Links2, IRShell). I thought maybe there was something about the way that OE worked that made the network connection unavailable... is that true? Will this work? I'm going to download and try it (probably, if I have time), but it would be nice to know if there's anything special I have to do to run it on custom firmware...

If your like James and can't get any homebrew that uses wifi to work MAKE SURE YOUR CHECK YOUR PORT SETTINGS. i was having so much trouble getting anything to work until i forwarded port 3333 on my router. now pimpstreamer, links, pspradio..all that ***** works. all i did was type my routers IP address in my browser..went to setup/port forwarding and then forwarded port 3333...lol i remember i tried so long to get this to work and eventually gave up thinking it was a piece of *****, then one day i jus decided to google port forwarding and 10 mins later i was watching OZ on my PSP. oh yeah and btw, if you havnt seen that show OZ yet, def. check it out...seriously one of the best shows...anyways...yeah *****es thats how you do it
