Fixing pixels.The problem with calling crait without using the capital "C" is that we can't start any sentences with his name. It's a small price, however, for the nifty app he's told us about, which is now available to PSP users everywhere.

The app we're talking about is called the Pixer Fixer. Instead of downloading large videos to help dislodge those stuck pixels on your display, you can use the 150kb app to do it for you. It does its job by randomly printing thick lines on your Sony handheld to keep pixels from getting caught. For people with small memory cards, an app like this is going to be a very welcome addition to their utilities.

According to crait, it will work on 1.0 and 2.00+ PSPs, and will also work on 1.5 with custom firmware installed. It's an eboot, so you shouldn't have any problems with installing it. In any case, here are his instructions for using the app:

  • Go to the Game icon on your PSP's XMB.
  • Click X then find the icon that has the title "PixerFixer By crait." And once again, press X.
  • Run this program for about 1 minute, changing the brightness setting of your PSP system every 2-4 seconds.
Simple, right? Enjoy!

well I got it working on native 1.5 - using Sei PSP utility, and it still hasent fixed my red stuck pixel - that is incapable of doing a few colours.

Try opening it up, and letting it run for awhile. Plug your psp in to a charger and just let it keep giong for a long time. eventually it will be fixed.

Wow, Does this thingy actually make more dead pixels?!

Stuck = white
Dead = black

its possible for subpixels to become stuck also (red green blue)

If it's a black pixel on a white screen its dead.

also wasnt there an app exactly(functionality wise) like this about a year ago? owell who cares.

 » What he mean by changing the brightness setting of your PSP system every 2-4 seconds?

isit pressing the button beside the psp logo on the bottom right by ourselves or isit in the system settings?

   by JiM (Unregistered) - 2006-12-21
 » brightness?

Why would you want to cycle the brightness? That only dims and brightens the backlight and has nothing to do with the actual LCD screen at all right?

 » SE-C

I got it working on SE-C only by putting the folder inside GAME150. Didn't work from GAME. Oh well.

Great program, crait!

 » Stuck pixels at the top

Hey crait. This program works great for me and has fixed at least 3 stuck pixels! At last I got rid of them, I've had them since the start.

The only problem is that I have 3 more stuck pixels at the way top of the screen and that area doesn't seems to be "colourized" as much as the rest, therefore not fixing them.

Is this a problem for anyone else? I'm gonna run it for a while more, and if it's not fixed, I'll have to try another method.

Again, thanks for your great work, crait.

 » Have a launch day psp...

I was lucky to only have 1 stuck pixel on launch day - one thing that I was very worried about. I tried numerous videos and such to try and get rid of that one pixel issue but it never worked - i'm going to give this proggy a try and then if it doesn't fix it - I won't try anymore. It's not that big of a deal - but everytime the screen goes black - loading screens etc, I just stare at that one pixel and it pisses me off... lol
