Play YouTube videos on your PSP with PSPtube!

Japanese PSP homebrew developer SofiyaCat came up with an application that allows users to play Youtube videos without having to convert or host the files using a computer, known as PSPtube!. Do note though that this is not an FLV player as it actually play videos directly from the said site.

We really can't understand Japanese but it's a good thing QJ.NET loyal reader and forum member a0dki11s had a correspondence with the owner of the application and got these details:

You need a Developer ID, and put it on the psptube.cfg
Download the PSPTube20070805.zip on the link provided
If you are in CFW look in the zip for a folder named over 200
Drag the "psptube" to the GAME folder in your CFW (BTW I'm currently on 3.51 M33)
Open the psptube folder and edit the "psptube.cfg" file (using notepad)
Look for the line dev_id = "" inside the parenthesis if you have a YouTube developer account, type the username there.
Save it and start youtubing

Regarding the developer account for YouTube, a0dki11s also provided a step-by-step process on how to make one over at QJ.Net's PSP development forum. Aside from that, a key map has also been provided. PSPtube! has its own Readme file, so make sure you go over that. Going over at the forum link below is also advisable.

GAIJIN is a japanese word for FOREIGNER, eg not japanese native which is NIHONJIN.
this word is used in the movie fast and furious tokyo drift. its the word used by the antagonist but the protagonist misunderstood as calling him something like swear or stupid or whatever. it is not, it just simply means "foreigner"

HOW TO MAKE A DEVELOPERS ACCOUNT!

first, go here http://www.youtube.com/dev
-on the right side of the page click "Developer Profile"
-put your info
-your done! now go back to your Youtube account and click on your "Developer Profile" and you can see your Developer ID (right in top of "Purpose for Using APIs")
-the ID should look like a bunch of numbers and letter

Make sure you have the files in the "GAME150" folder and NOT in the "GAME3xx" or "GAME" folders.

Note: If you have set your 1.5 homebrew folder to something other than GAME150 use the folder you set.

You have to set it" I had just re-setup my network connection in my psp's browser so it dont use the wep any more but it's still not working...ps i put my dev_id in the second line where it just had the "". the first line said something like dev_id = "ABCDEFJH" i just left that how it was....did i do that correctly?

I got through the developer ID & network settings, but once I select a video, it gives a black screen saying "Buffering" and to "please wait". The audio & video percentages don't move up a whit, even for what's supposed to be short 30 second clips.

Idea: Anyone who got a video to run, please post the keywords in your search, and we'll all see if we can replicate the results on our own PSP's.

OK, I finally got one working. Search "neverhood psp" and play the video. It didn't work on the first two tries, but now it's playing. You'll know it's working if it doesn't display the URL of the video on the black screen.

I suppose it works for some people, But it doesnt work for me, Ive done everything, I signed up for a dev id. I set the config file.
It finds my network conntection, does a thread search. loads a gray screen that says no video, and shuts down.. This little pointless app, isnt wroth the trouble..

you need to use the 2.00 bove version. i had the same problem to when i used the 1,50 version

put the 2.00 versin in the 3.40 map and it works

Too bad on the searches i do more then 50 procent are google video,s and dont play.

i hope in the future the program will be extended to play those google video,s he finds too

for the rest the program works 100% fine

after pimpstreamer and psprythm i think this is one of the best homebrew out there :p

i hope more homebrew like this will come out, cause the most that comes out is more like useless to me

when on custom firmware dont use the game150 because for somereason the connection is not detected there so put the app in the game folder and make sure if you have 2 or more connections the main one is 1st because thats the connection the app will use.
